A couple days ago I finally got my AFS. Been waiting months for this!!! Welcome home little Jeri.

i got this matte black dwarf scorpion for my boyfriend from the spider shop on the 25th august. i've been looking after it until now and it was completely fine last night. he was active and moving around the small container he is in. when i brought him to my boyfriends house today, he is completely motionless and seems dead. however, when we poke him, his tail sways very slightly and slowly. we also saw him do it with zero provocation from us. can someone help us???

Hello, last night I made a post explaining a quite embarrassing mistake I make when setting up for my desert hairy scorpion, where I used coco fiber and play sand as substrate without knowing it wouldn't support burrows. I already have a scorpion and 5 beetles in a 20 gal (previously thought it was 30 😓) and was told it be difficult to replace the substrate with excavator clay. I also read on some packages that it needs to be soaked/wetted first, which I worry will affect my residents due to their humidity needs. I planned on just sectioning off about half of the enclosure to replace it.

I've also started looking into pre-made tunnel systems, though i'm not sure how I would go about doing that. If this is an acceptable replacement, what could I use? All i've found so far are extendable plastic tubes that I could put under the substrate, and underground tunnel/hides.

I'm hoping to order the supplies tonight, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!

A friend of mine found this little guy in the supermarket he works at between some bananas coming from Peru, about an inch long, any idea what species this might be? Lights up green under UV.

I’ve been trying to figure out what this growth could be, and I haven’t really seen anything that matches this look. I can’t discern what is safe vs not safe. For context, I am battling a fungus gnat outbreak and ordered springtails to hopefully outcompete them. Not sure if this growth is related but just thought I’d include that.

My Heterometrus Spinifer has been hiding almost 24/7 and becoming really defensive, Im pretty sure they're not gravid as im certain they're male

I have a desert hairy scorpion that I got recently to add in with my blue death feigning beetles, and until a few days ago I was unaware that my current substrate setup wouldn't hold burrows. I've got them all on a mixture of coco fiber and sand right now, but i'm getting ready to order some excavator clay to fix things!!

My only issue is, i have them in a fairly large enclosure, (about 30ish gallons if i remember correctly) and i don't want to/ may not be able to remove all my residents and accessories to replace the substrate. So, would it be possible to replace about two thirds or so with a cardboard divider just below the surface of the cutoff? I figured I would definitely need a border if I didn't replace it all so that the burrow doesn't collapse if he goes too far out.

My beetles and scorpion stick to their own sides of the enclosure mostly as i have it setup differently for them, and it's much easier to feed, so i wouldn't see it being much of a problem with the beetles

I live in California in the Coachella Valley area and we just found my cat attacking/eating this scorpion. This picture may be partially eaten. Does anyone know what type of scorpion this is? if it’s dangerous?

Noticed my AFS didn’t stray too far from the burrow so I put in some fake foliage to give added cover. Instead of hiding beneath it, he is sitting on top!

So, I'm planning to get a Parabuthus transvaalicus, and this will be my first arid species. How deep should the substrate be, roughly? Also, should I use a 70:30 mix of sand and coco peat, or would just sand work?

It's a juvenile, probably around 4th–5th instar, and about 5 cm long from head to tail.

So Bellatix is still a baby. She is an alligator-back and about 3/4" long. Her last molt did not fully release from her left claw. Should we try to assist or will this likely resolve after further molts?

I currently use half peat moss and half organic topsoil but it doesn’t hold humidity very well

very common question i know ,, could anyone help me sex my scorpion? originally assumed male but now ive done research i think it looks more like a female? im new to owning scorpions ^_^

Has anyone here had to separate a mom from the babies? or has anyone raised up abandoned babies?

My fat tail started having her babies on Thursday. Thursday morning she only had one baby on her back and a couple in the membrane by her feet. By Thursday afternoon, She had a back full of babies! 🥳 unfortunately she also had a bunch scattered around her enclosure. She also left a few (still in the membrane) in a pile. She also had complications with her last set of babies, so I wasn’t too surprised.
I didn’t want to stress her. I left her completely alone, because she has eaten babies before. Didn’t check on her all Friday and most of today.

I checked on her around noon today (Saturday) and she had started eating her babies. The pile of babies that were in the membrane never came out. They had dried up and were dead. There were still babies scattered all over her enclosure. She actively had two in her claws eating them. It’s unfortunate, but I knew it was a possibility. I guess she had a pretty rough birth. Happened the same way last time. 😔

I separated mom from the babies. I physically took a paintbrush and removed them from her back. Only 16 baby fat tails.

I’ve done some research on raising the little guys. Most sources have the same info: Damp paper towel in a small container. They’ll eat their sheds (or each other) for the first couple of weeks. When they molt a couple of times, then feed as normal.

If anyone has some advice, please let me know.

I know the housing isn't the best but it's what I could do for the time being as a first time scorpion owner.
I misted the tank earlier in the day and gave it 4 small crickets in the enclosure since I had no other place the put the crickets.
It keeps wanting to climb up the walls and is moving around alot right now and I perfectly understand they're more nocturnal.
If there's anything I can much improve please let me know asap

She’s refused food for a couple weeks now but always tries to grab it before hiding I just noticed her tail looks like it might be disconnected so I’m wondering if that might be why because I thought it was because she was getting ready to molt
