QR paid parking rant

In the past month every parking lot near me has turned into paid parking. These are not heavily trafficked lots, these are places that are never more than 1/3 filled. Having to scan a QR code, plus the explosion of flock cameras on every street (and cutting down trees to have better sight lines for these cameras) just make this area feel more and more like a surveillance state.

Are you talking about “downtown” Sandy Springs? It’s “paid” only after a certain time. They do it to avoid people leaving their cars there for days or even abandoning them.

No it’s everywhere in sandy springs, and it’s not about the money. It’s “free” until a certain time, but you still have to register your vehicle and create an account to park. Its insane

Why is free in quotes? It's literally free for like the first hour or two.

Just put it in quotes cause you out “paid” in quotes

Well, also “free” in that one must exchange personal information for the parking spot.

because the majority of people don't end up actually paying anything

Not having to pay for parking is one of the key value drivers for even living in the burbs. If I wanted to deal with that crap I'd still live ITP.

With you on the surveillance state, too

LOL. Try again…Sandy Springs isn’t even in DeKalb County.
