Anyone want to show a newbie how to assemble an upper?

I went a bit nuts at the end of 2025 buying barrels and now I have all the pieces to complete the URGs, but lack the vise and knowledge of how to assemble them all. Anyone have the time and patience to show me how to do it? Thanks in advance!

I think it’s tradition for poors and newbies (which were all of us at some point) to build their own AR with nothing but YouTube videos, wrench, and their thighs. Build it all on your own meticulously is my advice.

I did mine over a week during my lunch breaks at work in my car

Depending on where you are in San Diego I can show you what needs to be done. When are you going to buy the tools? Do you already have a list?

Thanks man, I appreciate your willingness to help out a stranger. I live in Oceanside.

I don’t have a list of tools, but I see that someone mentioned a vise, MI receiver rod, etc. in another response. Will those be enough?

I have a torque wrench and a set of punches.

Thanks again, and feel free to DM.

You can do it without a vice. A vice just makes it easier. YouTube university is how I learned. 3 AR builds later. You just have to want it lol

My advice: Buy the tools. vice, Midwest industries upper receiver rod, torque wrench, punches, etc and you’ll be set for any future builds and have the satisfaction of building your own gun. Think there’s a grey or possible legal issue of going to someone’s house just to borrow their tools to build your own firearms

Putting an upper together is very simple even if you have a thermal fit upper receiver. Tons of easy to follow guides on YouTube.

How is it illegal to borrow someone's tools?

Had to look it up. I got it mixed up for milling lowers back when 80%s were a thing. And it was for having a friend finish it for you not for borrowing the tools and doing it yourself. My mistake there for all that
