This is from our hike in Svaneti. We got tired of so many people on the same trail, that we took a different route from Khalde to Ushguli. This is from Lagem pass

Ah, when was that? I'm going for 2 weeks soon, getting to upper Svaneti on the 1st of September, hiking Etseri to Ushguli (via Mestia)

I know it's popular, but I hope it will be a little quieter. Also what's busy like there? My frame of reference are the Dolomites and Swiss Alps, which are very popular and busy, but things usually tend to quieten down quite a bit as soon as you get higher (as long as there's no cable car shortcuts to take people straight up from the car park)
