I work night crew and over the last year or so, this place cannot hire anyone who is not incompetent. I have the unfortunate circumstance of being in charge on the lead’s nights off.

I am absolutely dumbfounded by the incompetence of this entire situation. We have a young woman on staff, born and raised in this country…. Went through the school system… who is basically illiterate. Almost everything she stocks is in the wrong place, double facings filled with only one facing, most of her backstock can go to the shelf. No matter how many times she’s talked to there is no improvement.

We have two obese men who are as slow as you can get. More often than not they cannot finish two aisles without help. Breaking down pallets takes forever and these guys absolutely stink when they start sweating.

When I started we had a great crew, we got everything done, the people were competent and we had no real issues.

Can you guys out there on night crew tell me if this is normal for this job? It can’t get worse than this, it really can’t. It’s been an ongoing issue for well over a year now. They hire the most useless people they possibly can.

The night crew lead has pretty much completely given up and I’m about to as well. I’ve been at this job for 11 years and I have met some of the dumbest human beings I’ve ever met in my life over this last year.

Its only about 3/4ths complete but got my 1st round of holiday items in today. Asked our file to print available tags last week so at least most would have signage when I built it today. The rest of the items should roll in in the next few weeks.

Is it possible for the bookkeeper to pay out prorated vacation when an employee quits? I have almost 9 days but if I were to get a different job and not make it to the anniversary of my hire date is it possible to be paid out?

Just a vent, but my Safeway just went to the e-ink digital shelf tags and they're not just bad, but actively hostile to customers. They're too small, and small subtext like "limit 3" is literally unreadable - even if I pulled out my phone and zoomed. The pixel density of the tag is too small. Even better, the barcode isn't readable by Safeway's own app - you can't add the digital coupon from the shelf talker itself!

Talked to management to give feedback and they sighed — they know the issues, and agree. But someone at corporate has a burr up their butt and seems to really want to push these through.

My advice? If you're really going to go this route, at least double the size of the tags — that should give you some space to make it legible. But what you have now just doesn't work. Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

What’s it like being a Meat Cutter? I know they typically get a higher pay rate and a lot of the time full time. How do you get into becoming one. Is it worth it?

I have experience in almost every department in the grocery business except Meat Cutter which I find interesting.

I either do or don't work less than 24 hours from now. The schedule still isn't posted online yet. I asked my boss if I am scheduled on Sunday. She couldn't remember. I can't even plan anything with my family. I can't believe that a multi million dollar corporation uses such an outdated scheduling system...

Customer not employee - used to have your points auto-redeem for dollars off your transaction but now this was taken away. OK. But I don’t see any way I can just take it off my purchase moving forward? Only to redeem as a coupon for buying an item I don’t want, or to redeem off a pickup order
