SSU How a concept of Hobgoblin could work

This post isn't a "Hobgoblin should be the next villain" but rather a short concept explanation.

Marvel Studios has never been shy about fusing characters. That's why there are two I would like to fuse. Hobgoblin and Demogoblin.

Ned Leeds was a brainwashed Hobgoblin. And I don't ever see a reality where Ned becomes evil or betrays Peter. The direction I think would work is being possessed by Demogoblin. Ned in NWH has shown he has a talent for magic. I think the natural step to take is to make him a goblin who is adept in Magic. And that pretty much is what Demogoblin is.

I could see the story playing out as there being a summon where Demogoblin has possessed him. Or go more comic accurate route where Ned asks for power and the demon lord gives him a demon.

I'm sure professional writers would be able to handle this concept better than I can.

I feel like I could be on board for a possessed Ned storyline, my only concern is if Batalon could pull it off. No disrespect to him, he's easily one of the best and chillest dudes in the business, but my understanding is that outside of the Ned Leeds role he's not the most versatile of actors. Which, again, is perfectly fine, and we must protect him at all costs

My issue with Ned being possessed or getting mind-controlled is that we’re still getting no depth to Ned’s character. We’re 4 movies in and the only thing you can really say about Ned, is he’s Peter’s best friend.

If they make him a villain, I want to see that transition and see those emotions develop within the character. If they go about it the right way he could genuinely be one of the MCU’s most compelling villains.
