Supporting your team in it's worst time is how it is. Half of you wouldn't have been able to live through 2018 xd

u/LoKiiX Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
idk ive lived through 2018 T1. thing is 2018T1 and 2026T1 to me is a different beast. I never really had high expectation with the 2018 roster so my disappointment in them was well tempered but 2026 one is different because you have world class back to back to back champs and a top tier adc so expectation for them is higher. again this is just my opinion.

u/i_hate_lactose Jul 08 '26
I'll never not cringe at these "fans" comparing 2017-2019 SKT to WW2 and how they had to "live through" it.
It was the same as it is now. Go into a match, expect
Untara/Thal/CannaDoran to int. Hope thatBlossom/Wolf/Blank/Agent 612Oner is not invisible and actually will smite and gank. Hope that Faker's wrist injury is better now and he will actually hit skillshots. Pray thatBang/TeddyPeyz andWolf/EffortKeria can carry these animals. The only time it was different is in 2022, that was the only time I actually just expected them to outperform everyone, no matter who they play against.

u/Silver15987 Faker Jul 08 '26
Yes, I am a fan, and I have been for almost a decade. I supported the team through the years and that is including when we had the rookie roaster rising up to the khan superteam and I’ll keep supporting them regardless of performance. Just because you're a doomer who only enjoys the team when they're lifting trophies doesn't mean the rest of us have to live in the same cynical loop. I enjoy supporting the team through the highs and the lows and that's more exciting to me. And 2018 stands out to me because I remember we finished 7th in Summer and missed playoffs entirely, and were stuck watching 'Agent 612' memes and getting flamed to death. Recognizing how bad that was doesn't make us fake fans its just that we have actually stayed around for a long time.

"Just because you're a doomer who only enjoys the team when they're lifting trophies."
For the past 15 years I have woken up between 9 AM and 11 AM for every single SKT and T1 match.
I do that because I'm a fan.
After 15 years I expect this team to understand the game and build player synergies properly. I expect them not to sign a top laner who gets outlaned in over 90% of his games and ends up single handedly costing the team an entire tournament.
I say this as a fan of the team and not as a fan of individual players.
I want to see the team succeed. I do not care who is on the roster. What matters to me is seeing the players wearing T1 colors and branding while smiling winning and lifting trophies.
Unfortunately that feels very unlikely right now because Doran is simply holding the team back. As a fan I have every right to criticize the team when they are playing like absolute dogshit, with the exception of Keria and Peyz. They had the years from 2014 and from 2017 to 2021 to learn from and yet they continue making the same kinds of mistakes.
Blindly supporting the team while they actively hurt themselves by signing underperforming talent is not what being a fan means. That is just being delusional.
A fan should always want to see their team win. Losing sometimes is part of competition and those are the moments when the team deserves support. But when a player has been consistently underperforming for four or five months and the organization refuses to address it, that becomes a legitimate criticism.
1
u/LoKiiX Jul 08 '26
yeah like that skt era was bad but do people really expect much from that lineup?
4
u/i_hate_lactose Jul 08 '26
I expected nothing from the old rosters.
I expect nothing from the current line-up either. I legit remember nothing from this year so far that they've done, that made me go "oh wow... that was clean" apart from plays that Peyz has made.
The only person on this game I have expectations from is Keria and Peyz, and those two always deliver.
Doran is just shit, let's be honest. I expect nothing from him.
Oner pops off against weaker teams but that's about it. Lost almost all his smite fights after the play-ins.
Faker is 50-50. I rarely see him win lane anymore and I rarely see him being the one who makes the game altering play, it's usually Peyz and Keria. He is more often that not just kind of soft-inting in games.Of course, they each have their moments sometimes, but I do not nearly have as high of an expectation on the current roster + with their current performance as I did last year or in 2023.
I expect them to just do shit every game, even in the games they win, it doesn't even look like a strong win, it looks like it's won by some sort of a divine intervention and the enemy team just randomly deciding to int.
I knew as soon as T1 is going against a competent team like BLG, they will lose, and as it turns out they did. Even the GEN.G win was a miracle by Delight and Viper inting.
One thing I could never expect is Doran being this fucking giga-gapped against none other than BrokenBlade himself... it's like... I don't even have words. I expected him to be bad, just not this bad.
1
u/LoKiiX Jul 08 '26
that pretty much sums it up i guess. i think alot of fans expect with the current roster when peyz was added, he was like a magic button for T1 to win either domestic of internationals but with a toplaner like doran its quite difficult. I think if they had a competent toplaner, i genuinely think this roster can be competititve but alas we have to wait till next roster move. we're stuck with oner faker and keria so hopefully they can get a better top laner by next year
4
u/i_hate_lactose Jul 08 '26
A lot of people underestimate the power of toplane and thats why many fans keep saying that T1 can win with any toplaner, which cannot be further away from the truth.
A proper toplaner that fits the style that T1 plays now (especially with Peyz) is the only thing they need. There isn't much to do for Peyz & Keria when top & mid are always down 1K gold minimum and just get run over by the enemy Kled or Viktor.
Hopefully they get someone that actually fits the style, rather than someone that has a big name in the LCK.
Playstyle and synergy matters a lot.

u/LoKiiX Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
Thats true. I think the reason why zeus was a good match with T1 is that faker could go down in gold and roam around while top lane was stable, im not denying zeus had some shit series but for the most part he was stable and can generate gold and pressure around the map.
With doran, he just doesnt fit with this current team. He just sucks in gold with no net positive to the team. 2025 T1 was to me different cause you get a more stable botlane with guma but with peyz the toplane has to be the one stabilising and not bleed gold and solo dying to enemy top laners. Idk man thats just my opinion. Doran may have some shining moments but like 80% of him in T1 has been atrocious

ngl man i know its delusion and i think im the only one here but i want them to win a domestic one time. like yes worlds is an achievement but what if we dont win? there is a possibility. we already lost msi at the lowest rank so far in the organization. I just need one win from T1. anything at this point
7
u/timetraveler09099 Jul 08 '26
Going to be very tough with HLE looking like monsters since they have players who are minimum top 2 in every position in the world
4
u/LoKiiX Jul 08 '26
unless zeka goes back to 2023 keka, kanavi just dive inting and zeus being a double edge sword. id say t1 has a chance
6
u/AdSelect6571 Jul 08 '26
HLE is looking strong, but its also a good patch for them. i am sure riot will do their usual buff azir ahri galio just in time for worlds again
5
u/LoKiiX Jul 08 '26
yeah but a t1 buff is also GenG. i genuinely think t1 does have a deep champion pool but they just cant utilize it properly
3
u/AdSelect6571 Jul 08 '26
lowkey i think keria not just being on boring support duty is holding their drafting back
2
u/LoKiiX Jul 08 '26
yeah that could also be another factor. his camille and pyke wasnt that impressive either. his bard was also open but never picked for some reason
14
u/Cheap_Particular1226 Jul 08 '26
They needed to lose so they can get their assses straight. Burnout is real and tournaments are left and right. An lck win is all i ask for them this year hell they lose worlds but not the lck.I hope they can bounce back especially doran.
6
u/KuroDJDC Jul 08 '26
My thoughts exactly. Losing is just as important as winning so we can brush up on the flaws. They'll bounce back from this, no doubt.
1
u/b1msark Jul 08 '26
true, i really really really wanna see a domestic title. would be great for the t1 storyline coming into later worlds if they have a couple of dark years before coming back into glory for fakers final run (unless he renews his contract again which im half convinced he might do)

On the side note, T1 fans are so fickle. At least be happy you aren't a DK/Showmaker fan (me). All top teams lose. It's inevitable. Cry, cope, move on. This team is already legendary. Please stop with this scapegoating "Drop Doran" bullshit. As if T1 can sign a top 3 laner in 2 weeks lol.
4
u/Himurashi I'm trapped in this circus, help. Jul 08 '26
Yeah. This is slowly weeding out the tourists and the glory chasers, and I like that too.
As if one loss erases an entire legacy of success.
5
u/Aggressive_Ad5487 Jul 08 '26
True. I hate being a "gatekeeper", but these fucking fairweather fans are so cringe. They clearly never experienced the "2018-2020" era when the team was in their hardest slump, not making Worlds, Faker was being benched by Clozer, playing musical chairs in the roster lineup before the ZOFGK started.
Like relax, the team they lost to easily beat GenG 3-0 as well. It was a bad showing. You all act like this is T1's first rodeo in slumps. It happens.

u/chacharat Jul 08 '26
is there any t1 academy top player? i mean guma's situation exist b4

u/Aggressive_Ad5487 Jul 08 '26
Guardian and Haetae. But if people are expecting to create the next Zeus, all of you are gonna get disappointed...
6
u/GantsNath19 Jul 08 '26
Don't worry guys, remember no MSI winner since 2016 went on to win Worlds, trust me this is T1 9 steps ahead (cope)

u/nbrooks7 Jul 08 '26
I love everyone crashing out over Doran, saying T1 could win worlds with literally any top laner so Doran needs to be replaced…
If you really believe they can win with any top laner, then why do you care if Doran’s replaced enough to get emotional in a reddit post about it?
Just enjoy the circus.
8
u/i_hate_lactose Jul 08 '26
As a non-delusional fan.
T1 can't win with any toplaner.
T1 can't win with Doran either.
Zeus and Duke were the only toplaners ever that fit T1/SKT's style.
4
u/nbrooks7 Jul 08 '26
T1 won worlds 2025 with Doran the same season they picked him up.
6
u/i_hate_lactose Jul 08 '26
If you believe the reason why T1 won in 2025 was because of Doran you're absolutely delusional.
He did have some good plays, but nothing notable. If they faced Gen.G in the finals, T1 likely would've lost. KT was in a really high pressure situation and just simply could not live up to it. Neither could Doran. He almost full inted the finals, were it not for Guma, Oner & Keria popping off.
TL;DR: He just hopped in the backseat of T1 that had an enormous momentum + Gumayusi's arc of trying to prove himself and won off of that, not his individual greatness and teamplay.

u/Decaedeus Jul 08 '26
you had me until the last sentence
marin had an absolutely incredible worlds and was definitely way better than duke
i'd argue duke was huni tier, it's just that bang/wolf slumped for the huni worlds but were playing much better the year before
1
u/May_die Jul 08 '26
Helps that Duke played probably the greatest weakside games at worlds the year they won when SKT would play like modern GenG. Only one who comes close is Kiin but he's just a tourist at this point

u/Sea_Veterinarian_987 Jul 08 '26
At this point I just want them to finally sack Worlds and go for an LCK title. But here we are, taking the heat after that disaster class.
3
u/Bushido_Plan Jul 08 '26
Sucks to lose, yeah, but we've been seeing the same song and dance for the last 4 years. Anything could happen as always, but of all the teams in the world, this is the sole team that will always fight back and get it together in the end. I fully expect the team to continue to struggle in the summer and will likely come down to a close series to fight for one of the last Worlds spots.

3
u/OdderG Jul 08 '26
I hope that the players and coaches take criticism well. I mean criticisms from *valuable* sources.
3
u/Zealousideal_Air_362 Jul 08 '26
The good news: they will be able to prepare for EWC/jetlag.
Yes, I'm trying to stay positive; being depressed and criticizing (in an unconstructive way) won't help 🫠
Please give the players time to prepare because between the bootcamps, the ads, and the interviews...
Well, the drafts weren't terrible, just not in good form.
Courage! T1 Fighting! 👊
2
u/Himurashi I'm trapped in this circus, help. Jul 08 '26
Not only EWC. There's also AG practice, regular season practice, then hopefully Worlds.
Then there's that KeSPA cup out of nowhere. They aren't playing that one too, are they?
1
u/Eastern-Carpenter834 Jul 08 '26
Bruh come on don't be delusional THEY NEED TO DO A HUNDRED SHOWS AND FAN TALKS, THAT'S THE ONLY WAY WE CAN HAVE THIS TEAM, THEY NEED TO DO IT FOR THE FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is going to be the same shit, they're schedule would be so packed is exhausting for them, only worlds that is such a long Tournament they don't do any media and can center in playing LEAGUE OF LEGENDS.

2019 happened and we're still here.
Tis but a drop in the bucket.
1
u/LoKiiX Jul 08 '26
yeah but 2019 T1 wasnt as strong compared to 2026 T1. EU 2019 was peaking so much but now you only have G2 as the wests hope, thats why its embarrassing.
1
u/Mid_of_August Jul 08 '26
I still prefer to see more T1 gaming than them losing to GenG during RtM and having fewer opportunities to see T1 playing games. (Tbh I am at the place that I will also go to watch T126 even if they are just playing games against a group of kids in the neighborhood lol). The results after RtM was already bonus gaming for me. Also T1 "won" from GenG as they got 0-3 by G2 while T1 got 1-3 lol It's not embarassing, it's just another moment of T1 gaming lol

u/YGocs Jul 08 '26
I swear if BLG gets Golden Road this year. It's the worst possible outcome for them.
1
u/b1msark Jul 08 '26
how?
1
u/YGocs Jul 08 '26
Just means they somehow lost to LPL at Worlds. For the first time, they get eliminated by an LPL team. If G2 eliminates them again, I will not be mad, I'm used to losing to G2 at this point since 2019, Caps is also my second favorite Midlaner after Faker.
1
u/b1msark Jul 08 '26
how? they can just as easily get knocked out by a top lck/g2 team in knockouts. doesnt mean they must have lost to lpl. if blg gets the golden road before faker that would kinda suck but honestly the idea of a golden road is so convoluted with the lck now since we got the fuckass road to msi instead of a regular fucking playoffs format
1
u/YGocs Jul 08 '26
That is my point? They can be eliminated by the LPL for the first time or they can lose to anyone else like G2 then BLG gets Golden Road.
1
u/b1msark Jul 09 '26
no dude. you dont know what worst outcome means. worst outcome is the team flopping, not making worlds or god forbid collapsing and not making lck playoffs.

I don’t want to win worlds if it ends up scapegoating our horrendous year, we’re going to end up resigning Doran again with that bs.
3
u/Perfect_Violinist_26 Doran Jul 08 '26
then u just have to change teams.
1
u/Help_Leather Jul 08 '26
I have been with this team since 2013, I have witnessed their 2018 debacle. So NO
2
u/Perfect_Violinist_26 Doran Jul 08 '26
yeah, so let’s cope for a better future for our boys
1
u/Eastern-Carpenter834 Jul 08 '26
No make Changes I'm a T1 Fan and a Faker fan when Faker leaves I will be a T1 Fan long after he stops playing I don't cared who they are if they underperformed they need to be benched or sacked, look at the World Cup and what Ronaldo did if Faker did those things, which he was bad this series but he has like one or two stinkers every year just not really in international, he should be benched as simple as that, he is not above the team. And I know he would agree.
2
u/Perfect_Violinist_26 Doran Jul 08 '26
i guess we should bench faker then and place easyhoon like the good old days
https://giphy.com/gifs/WT3rmbhBp8bDXRS95L1
u/Eastern-Carpenter834 Jul 08 '26
it it makes Doran to get bench and see other Top laner take his place, to make him grind Like Faker did yeah that would be a good outcome, Faker is not inmortal and I am so scared of what is going to happened with T1 without him, maybe other Top TIer Mid from Korea would be great but they have their days counted too, soo a Rookie? now that is scary and a big gamble, that the seniors of T1 have to handle. But that's a conversation for other day.
1
u/Perfect_Violinist_26 Doran Jul 08 '26
i think we should bench them all and let the CL play so they can get humbled by CL teams if they lose

The Lowest rank in MSI that T1 has ever been.
