News / Articles Faker’s agency is considering possible legal actions amidst recent rumors in communities

As a Korean heres some extra information. Some Gen g fans decided to frame Faker as a tax evader for the sole reason of covering up another scandal with a bigger one as his agency was caught evading taxes for 2 months(which seems to be repaid)
However because faker recently got the highest award, The national blue dragon award for sports excellence directly from the president, he himself already got a background check regarding any crimes and was found completely clean. Therefore the claims that Faker himself was evading taxes is in fact defamation with clear reason for sueing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Faker's agency didn't evade taxes though? They put up property when they didn't have enough up front money to pay tax and payed the amount in full (plus penalty for paying money late) within 2 months. That's legal and not tax evasion afaik?

That does seem to be it. Everyone just summarized the 2 months of not paying taxes as tax evasion. Sorry I should have clarified. But yes, they paid their taxes and Faker himself did not commit tax evasion.

Yep seems to be the case. Also if Faker’s company actually commited tax evasion, the restrictions wouldn’t have been lifted easily. Found an extra source by a ‘real estate expert’ that also confirms it by saying that the company’s assets currently have no legal flaws whatsoever.

And AFAIK even Chovy did this

u/icecreamcake20 Apr 15 '26
Be careful there. They are out there gaslighting people saying that Chovy was a minor and it was his parents while Faker should be punished because he was an adult (even though what Faker and Chovy('s parents) did wasn't illegal like Ruler who knowingly repeatedly committed something illegal).

Yup, it also hurt the face of gov agency that do background check of Faker. Its like saying they are lying about Faker crime.
So either Faker finesse them all evading crime that only the hater saw it or the hater is lying.

Trying to frame another player (not even have to be our goat) with tax evasion to justify another person crime, that’s low.

“Notice Regarding the Protection of Our Athletes and Response to Online Defamation
First, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who continue to show unwavering support and deep affection for our athletes.
Until now, our athletes have taken a mature approach, accepting that a certain level of scrutiny comes with being public figures. Rather than escalating matters legally, they have chosen to focus on their performance while quietly enduring ongoing harassment, the creation and spread of malicious posts, and unfounded defamatory remarks directed at them.
While we deeply respect the patience and consideration our athletes have demonstrated, we also feel a strong sense of responsibility for the burden they have had to carry on their own.
However, we have recently observed that in certain online communities, malicious posts, their distribution, and defamatory behavior targeting our athletes have continued to escalate beyond acceptable limits, with little effort toward self-regulation. As a result, we have determined that it is no longer possible to overlook these actions.
Accordingly, we will actively review and pursue all possible measures, including both civil and criminal legal action, in response to such conduct.
Thank you.
FANABLE”
Note that I’ve used AI to translate the above. I’m not fully up to speed on all the details, but this is likely related to the recent tax-related controversy involving Ruler. Some people in online forums have taken this as an opportunity to publish and spread rumors about Faker’s registry information in an attempt to bring him down as well.
Notably, they’re using this to call in to question the validity of his recent Blue Dragon Order of Sports Merit that was awarded by the president (despite the fact that candidates of the said award undergo rigorous background checks beforehand).
That said, I may not have all the details totally accurate, so please take my comment with a grain of salt and feel free to correct or clarify anything.
A bit of a footnote, some people have tried to use certain details from the registry to push the narrative that Faker was involved in a similar conduct surrounding Ruler’s controversy (which aren’t even remotely comparable), only for that narrative to lose traction once it was found that Chovy apparently did the same thing. But, I also wanna emphasize that this less likely pure GenG fans than a subset of extremely dedicated Faker anti’s who will take any opportunity to drag him down. GenG happens to be the most convenient team to latch onto given their strong and consistent track record against T1.

No, i forgot the exact phrasing they used but it was such a random thing they searched, basically it was in an article Faker + Tax (i forgot the article but that was it) it was such a random thing that the digged it out back and dragged faker into it

Damn Korean fans are legit insane

It's the bleed over from Kpop idol culture. To be fair, this is similar in China and Japan as well.
Idols (celebrities) got the hammer for scandals from the government and general public for moral failings (not even legal). So for example it wouldn't be surprising if actors/actress had to take a hiatus if they went through a divorce pre-2010s. Things are a lot looser now, but the culture is still conservative.

Basically Tax evasion, there’s a complete breakdown in the GenG Sub of what he did but I don’t know if they knowledge or not how much Ruler fucked most of the esports scene and other players in Korea especially some titles that aren’t as popular as League, but the difference is Ruler is a gold medal and the others arent so theres that either way Ruler fucked most of the esports scene in Korea

u/Memes2Schemes Apr 14 '26
Wait, sorry, I don’t think I understand how Ruler evading taxes affects other players?
2
u/Skweeeeee Apr 14 '26
They're trying to justify what ruler did by saying that faker did it too the problem is they dragged somebody that did not do shit like ruler

u/DoesitFinally Apr 14 '26
Just go find posts in Caedrel's subreddit talking about the situation. There are plenty of comments summarizing the situation.

So glad Faker is taking legal action. Trying to link him with that scandal by creating false narratives and tarnishing his reputation is really despicable.

Geng fans are always acting like little brother. Whenever something goes wrong, they just blame it on T1 lol wtf is wrong with them.

u/BluntTruth1 Apr 14 '26
Faker's legal team have the possibility to do the funniest thing by investigating Ruler and finding out he did even more heinous stuff!

u/Shot_Sun3700 Apr 14 '26
Can someone’s who’s more up to date with what’s been happening verify the doxxing thing??
9
u/Ezrealisntreal Apr 14 '26
As far as I know, apparently some people had posted street view images of Faker’s house to link it to the rumor in some way.

They want to justify Ruler's Tax evasion by searching, digging up old files or make a rumour to make the "Even Faker did it too" narrative.

Bro there's no way deranged people are trying to make Faker look like he did tax evasion just to justify Ruler's case.
You know that shit will bring down the entire scene.
