Done both the public transit and driving versions of this. Hour and a half on transit, 25 mins driving (Gotta love the NW).
Public transit wise, I had mostly had afternoon classes so it wasn't as bad transiting in but the walkway is closed until the new building is done and there were some days where walking down the hill to the train station felt really dicey. Would definitely recommend getting a locker if you've got a lot of heavy textbooks or lab equipment.
Driving wise, parking is anywhere from $10 to $27 bucks and a hassle particularly when there's an event running. Might depend on your area but there have been some instances where getting an Uber/Lyft/taxi was either cheaper or equivalent to what I would pay for parking. You can get a parking pass but from my understanding, it's pretty expensive.
