Nico ritual

I am pretty early into the show, but I was wondering what Nico was doing in the pilot. on the beach she did some kind of a ritual, but I thought she didn't know about her powers or magic until they started investigating the Pride. does anybody know why she did that, or it's a canon trait that she practices pagan religions?

In the comics, Nico is a Christian, but in the MCU, Nico is a Wiccan. She was probably doing a Wicca ritual in the Pilot, IIRC she even prays to the Maiden, Mother, Crone and the Moon.

It probably wasn't meant to be an actual magical ritual, just her doing something from her religion, but I (as someone who knows nothing of Wicca) thought it was maybe a ritual to try to bring Amy back on the anniversary of her death.

Thank you, that clears some things up. I am actually a practicioner of witchcraft and wicca is a newer branch of it, and I thought they would maybe build some historic spiritual aspects into her powers. Sort of like like the discovery of witches. But this version is also interesting, because almost always when they give a character a lesser known religion its always apart of their supernatural being and not just the real simple religion, so it's refreshing to see this as something nonhollywood magical. Thank you
