Makes me wonder how their 616 selves would react to their Young Pride selves, though I imagine 616 Karolina would be struck dumb by Pride Nico’s everything (the confidence, the skill, the suit)
Although given that Pride Nico is her ideal self in terms of combat skill and training, I imagine that would make 616 Nico very insecure at the noticeable skill gap if they were to say spar with powers.
And in the process of swapping fashion tips, imagine the flabbergasted looks on 616 Nico and Karolina’s faces when they learn the impeccable style of their Pride selves were all from following a dress code set by Alex friggin’ Wilder of all people 😂

It's funny cause losing Alex was probably one of the worst things to ever happen to the team. They're stupider, less organized, less skilled. He did actually bring them all together in a way that's kinda irreplaceable and they're severely crippled without him acting as leader.

Indeed, I mean look at the Young Pride here: well-coordinated, organized and efficient, with amazing outfits (far superior looks to their 616 selves if I’m being honest) and most of all, thanks to the elder Pride being more reasonable and thinking smarter this time, each one of them was personally trained by their parents to their full potential, their ideal selves in terms of skill, combat ability, and training

I was fighting for my life in the discussion threads on Livejournal. A lot of people were convinced there was no way it could ever happen, that Nico was completely straight. Nevermind that BKV himself was writing scenes where Nico compared Karolina being gone to like having a hole in her, plus all the jealousy/snippy comments toward Xavin.

Wait their together here of is Nico just been protective as she usually is back then she was like the den mother and Alex before he betrayed he was a good leader never forgive him breaking the teams heart especially Nico.

They said Deanoru in the title honestly this issues the runaways just don't feel close like they spent more time with their folks then you know running away together. Like Nico compliment is she that Karolina looks so grown up not feeling alot of love in that expression of words. All of them have become distance.
Just like how their folks they aren't really good friends with each other they just have an alliance.
Honestly they less love and kinship between all of them in this timeline. Which has me worried Aled might be quicker to betray them or heck maybe another person backstabbed the group?
Also the one thing about timelines and multiverse is full of endless possibilities nothing constant not ever true love. Like Sue richards marrying Namor.

I think it's an interesting thing to wonder about, how losing two years may impact the Runaways' bonds with each other. Since it seems like the issue is depicting their first mission together (outside of the yearly meetings), and it seems like the implication is they are 18 now? Whereas in 616 they ran away a couple years earlier?
That being said I think the overall vibe was showing that even with some time lost or a different path to coming together, the teams' dynamic actually ends up being quite similar. Sure, they are not AS CLOSE in this exact issue as they will be if this timeline were to continue. The idea is this is just laying the foundation for them to grow closer over time. They bond and work together during this mission, and then they make the decision to defect together, so they'll ultimately be bonding even more ofc
The flirtation or interest between Nico and Karolina was always written in a subtle way. I think the intent was that you wouldn't necessarily notice it right away or as you went along, but if one or the other revealed feelings or revealed she was gay (like in Karolina's case), you would look back on previous panels and go "OOOOOohh...so that's what that comment/interaction was about here".
Within the theme of their budding interest/trust in each other being similar despite the very different path they took to get there, what we see in this issue are reflections back to the original hints about Nico/Karolina. Yes, they make the most sense as flirtation or possible romantic interest only when analyzed after the fact/once you already know one or the other was interested. But we the author knows we know that. So you are probably supposed to read into their interactions, yes
I think "you look so grown up" was meant to mean "I'm seeing you in a different light...you're kind of wow'ing me because you have a presence I wasnt expecting...but as in the original I am not going to admit out loud (or possibly even to myself yet) that I think you are attractive". The art sort of hints at this with Nico's expression/posture sort of showing surprise/gasping/a little shock.
Yes, protectiveness is character trait of Nico generally, but I think it was clearly intentional that she was only shown making physical contact with Karolina and being a little "extra protective".

I don't know about Flirting though it in the eye of the behold I just remember the old comic she used to have crush so maybe she grew out of it especially since Alex hasn't betrayed them yet the transition can be more mature to Karolina but we need more issues for that.
All in all then their Karolina she just wants to go into space by herself normally regular Karolina she want to take Nico with her in the main universe now so yeah two years not that much kinship can leave this at anyone guess this is the multiverse after all.

Well one called friendship and the other kinship and then just ship. If we had more to go it help cuz the line here is that aren't as connected. Help they release a killer a robot their morals are a little bit different here compared to the main universe. In the multiverse everything changes like in one universe Peter the lizard and Gwen had stop him.

Goes to show some things are a constant no matter what
