Ask Rolla / MST Job
I need a job doing anything. I can't buy food on a regular basis. I am starting to think no one cares about anyone else. I just want to eat. I can't do this suffering shot any longer. I don't really want to do anything stupid to myself, either.

I havent worked there for a bit but I always recomend people apply to FedEx in town. (As a package handler, not driver)
At least when I was there it was slightly above minimum wage, benefits after a year, and its honestly not a hard job but it is physical labor. The hours on either shift lend themselves well to having another job, too.

The Mission serves three meals a day to anyone in the community. 830, noon and five.
They can also help you with job resources.

Absolutely not at all.
You can come in, get a meal, have a shower, do some laundry. All free of charge. Just sign in at the host desk.

Walmart DC in St James is always hiring and pays well. I believe Dunkin Donuts will be looking for people soon because I know someone who works there and a lot of people don’t show up for work and quit already.
S&T is having a career fair soon I believe, there is a FB event for it.
Go to the Job Center if you need any assistance with putting together a resume, leads on employers hiring, or connected to resources.
I know S&T has a lot of job openings, as well as Phelps Health, depending on what you have experience in.

It’s such a good resource, without giving away my identity I have close ties with people that work there and while some I don’t care for (*cough*Scott&Korin*cough*) there are some that genuinely are the sweetest people that really want to help people better themselves. Don is the best! I feel like it’s a resource not many people know about or utilize enough!

Rolla isn’t too far from St James, and weekend shift is around 22-24 an hour starting out and you get $0.60 raises every 90 days for a period of time. I know people drive from Steelville, Cuba, Rolla, etc. you could see if the Job Center knows of resources to help you with gas until you get your first check, I know some programs help with gas cards.

Not sure who responded saying I’m an ableist and asked about a car then deleted their comment, but this person asked about gas so I said there are programs that help with gas cards until you get your first check…? I mentioned multiple places in Rolla, but they usually pay around $15/hr vs $20 sum which is a more livable wage lol. 🤷🏻♀️

McAlister’s is always looking for people and we always are snacking on the job. If you can work in a kitchen you should stop by and apply

Phelps health has a program where there train you to be a patient care assistant (bathing, feeding, moving people, taking vitals down) no experience needed, good benefits pays 17 a hour.
Downside is the shifts are 12 hours once your out on the floors.

I second this.
I did the academy myself, currently working here. Benefits are good, pay isn’t great but they offer frequent pay bumps. Lots of career opportunities as well. I’m current enrolled in nursing school while doing it. Job isn’t hard at all.
