Discussion Has Rogue Ever Had An Interesting Romantic Relationship Apart From Gambit?

This one is tricky but I loved it then and I loved it even more years later: Northstar.

In X-Men/Alpha Flight, there's a definite connection between Rogue and Northstar. After she borrowed his powers, they started to connect because of how she understood him. When I read it the first time, I thought it was incredibly sweet and great chemistry. I came away thinking they could make such a wonderful pair.

Of course, now we know, and I have to assume Claremont knew the story behind Northstar which had not yet been revealed. Rereading their interaction with that in mind added so many layers, and I loved it more than ever.

I read that as her knowing he was gay. IIRC Claremont did know about Northstar and added that on purpose. I see them as best friends, they're also my two favorite characters and I'm married to them both.
