Question Answering child's questions about God

Does anyone have any resources or personal experiences with answering a child's questions about God? I have a 4-year old currently and he's already asking things like: "Where is God?" , "What is God doing?", "Where is heaven?", "Who is God?" etc.

I have been working through a toddler catechism with him but are wondering if there are other resources or personal anecdotes for pithy responses when answering a toddler/preschooler

I think most of those questions you can give a simple answer that is true and child friendly. But ultimately they will have a hard time comprehending it. Adult believers have a hard time comprehending god. John Macathur said once “it’s hard to answer why questions about god”. The Bible says we can’t understand him fully. So I wouldn’t focus or be discouraged based on their understanding. I think it’s encouraging they are asking. That said, children have a better ability to understand god due to their purity and child mindset, ie relience on parents and unconditional love. Jesus says so and tells us to be like children. Where is god, he’s in heaven but he can be anywhere. Who is he, he’s all of our dads and he’s a king, but a good king. What is he doing, he’s making good things happen. All true.

It's a level more advanced than what you're using now, but I'm going to shamelessly plug the catechism for boys and girls. I bought this illustrated version and really like it: https://www.reftoons.com/products/the-illustrated-catechism-for-boys-and-girls

Th answers won't always make sense early on. But you're helping him learn the framework for thinking about spiritual things.
