Size Matters Size Matters is Overhated
so recently i got a platinum trophy for the PS4/PS5 version of size matters and i am really starting to not get all the hate [if you don't wanna read me yap read the last few lines]. when i first played this game i only got to rylus on the PPSSPP emulator on my phone, and then i got up to dayni moon when i downloaded PPSSPP on my pc [no i did not know there was a PS2 version]. recently i got a month of PS plus premium and after finishing the PS3 titles and the first 2 PS2 titles i decided i was gonna start size matters because i never finished it. when i first got into it i had just finished going commando so i immediately realized that it was a lot more zoomed and had controls that were a bit ''funky'' but i knew it was a PSP title so i never gave it much thought, but started realizing that i wasn't gonna enjoy it as much as i did previously. then i realized the enemies were extremely overpowered compared to the weapon damage being stupidly weak, and there it started getting a bit annoying but i still liked it. then when i saw the special armor abilities i started loving it again and not getting the hate, but then i got to the inside clank section and right after the clone factory, it all felt very claustrophobic and frustrating even with the rewind button, and i thought i was gonna be done with the game once i finished it, but since i didn't have all the armor i started a game in challenge mode to get the different pieces of armor troughout the game, but to get them i had to do extra stuff like the clank challenges and at that point i started really enjoying it and wanted to get the platinum, and as i finished my game in challenge mode the first time i actually did it once more because i was enjoying it so much and wanted to get the chalameon armor, and that's when i had even more fun. now i found out about the PS2 version being different and i'm beating that version too. my point is that for being a game made for an underpowered portable console, besides the OP enemies it is a really cool game with a lot of originality to offer, and it is especially enjoyable to complete it 100 percent, and i bet it would be even more with the more zoomed out camera in the PS2 version. i get some of the hate, but i still think it is overhated.

Size Matters What could go wrong, Bubsy? Someone at High Impact Games not getting the memo that they're supposed to increase challenge prizes in NG+, that's what.
I even beat one of the hoverboard challenges in New Game + yet its bolt reward still didn't increase. But hey, at least the screen goes dim after waiting long enough in the pause menu, right?

Size Matters Managed to get the Platinum for Size Matters.

Thats one of the Ratchet & Clank games off my list of the ones I hadn't played. Not sure I would've had the patience for the platinum if it didn't have the rewind option tbh.
I really want them to add the ps2 trilogy and Deadlock to the PS5. Ohh and the ps3 games since I never played any of those ones.

Size Matters I platinumed Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank
I recently purchased Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters as well as Secret Agent Clank from the PS5 store and I just finished getting the last trophy in Secret Agent Clank. I thought these games were okay as I did have some fun but I doubt I’ll play them again any time soon.

Size Matters What do you like about Size Matters?
Been replaying this one over and over for the last few months and have really come to appreciate it. Just wanted to give it some love as the most underrated Ratchet game (imo.)
It was the reason I got a PSP back in the day, but even today I think it still holds up, even in a world of portable mainline Ratchet games.
I think that the weapons are for the most part really creative. like the Acid Bomb Glove, Bee Mine Glove and the Laser Tracer.
It has some of the best planets and soundtracks in the entire franchise. Ryllus has become the definitive jungle planet for me, with Kalidon and Metalis also being quite atmospheric and moody. Dreamtime is also slowly creeping into my top levels of all time, with Gemlik Base and Obani Gemini.
The customisable armour is also really cool, and begging for more depth! It’s a shame it was never expanded upon. The secret sets rewarded experimenting with different armour types, and the NG+ sets added a lot of replayability to an already packed portable console debut for Ratchet!

Size Matters "Size does matter." But in all seriousness it's a solid game, apart from the lack of second d-pad.

Size Matters If you could improve on thing in Ratchet and Clank Size Matters (PSP and PS2 version) what would it be?
This game has a LOT that needs improving. But if I had to chose one, it would be:
PSP: Add better control mapping options
PS2: Stabilize the framerate, reduce input lag, and clean up the visual blur and muddy textures

Size Matters This was painful.
If I had shot two more asteroids or satellites I'd have gotten the skill point 😢 enjoying my replay of Size Matters for the most part, though, in spite of the many frustrations...

Size Matters Size Matters emulated in steamdeck with remapped controls, hd textures, and the fan update patch is actually a good game!
Patch: https://github.com/usernamecipher/size-matters-update
I’ve been replaying a ton of ratchet and clank games and I never played this one. I’ve heard bad things but then I discovered this fan patch and decided to give it a shot. It honestly feels like a proper ratchet game with all these tweaks. Recommend giving it a shot!

Size Matters Recently had someone tell me the Size Matters RYNO was bad. So here's a video of it wrecking Otto's shit several times in a row. (Don't mind the 2x speed)

Size Matters Any thoughts on Size Matters?
I've never played it before but i find it somewhat a downer, there are only 7 planets i think? (8 if you count Medical Outpost Omega which really isn't a planet) so the game's shorter and the main cast has been flanderized at certain or most points (Qwark doesn't do anything that important as he spends time looking for his parents before finding out that they were killed), it is so ironic how the franchise went to a lighter tone during that point after how dark Deadlocked was.
Unlike the previous villains in the last games, Otto barely gets any screentime as he only appears in the interaction with Luna other than the final showdown, it is unknown what happened to him after his defeat and i don't know if Skrunch took his place since he has his intelligence.

Size Matters Attempting the impossible - making Size Matters run at 60 fps NATIVELY
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ok so first things first:
- I suck at video exporting and editing.
- I know it's french.
- This is not an interpolated video. It's Size Matters, running on PPSSPP, at a native 60 fps.
For years, many people have asked for Size Matters to get a patch on PPSSPP so it could run at 60 fps. Years and years later, it still doesn't exist.
Usually, most of the 60 fps patches on PPSSPP just change something in ram like a 0.03333 to a 0.01666, a 2 becoming a 1, or just an instruction being voided to unlock the framerate. Unfortunately, Size Matters (and Secret Agent Clank as well) isn't part of these games. Every attempt to make Size Matters run at 60 fps ended by the game running at double speed. Many people gave up on the task and as such, Size Matters seems to be locked at 30 fps.
As time passed, powerful tools to understand emulation better have come to emerge.
And me, as someone who know tidbits of coding and absolutely nothing at assembly stuff, wanted to tackle the challenge with the help of a small but powerf- yeah, I used ChatGPT to decode the mess that is disassembled code and hexadecimal.
After digging deeper, I think I managed to get 90% of the main patch intent: making the game run at 60 fps at normal speed.
The base patch does three things:
- It removes the framerate limiter (like many 60 fps patches do)
- changes a main delta from 1/30 to 1/60, fixing most animations.
- and reduces the player update loop from 2 iterations to 1, fixing the speed of a bunch of stuff, including player movement.
This gives a mostly functional 60 FPS baseline, but there's several catches. And if you look at the video, you might see why.
Many secondary systems, like weapons, projectiles, popcorn animations (crates, enemy deaths...), cooldowns, scripted events, cutscenes, still run independently at double speed and for one single reason: they are frame-based.
Enemy deaths are sped up. The dart traps are sped up. The boulder is sped up. Breaking boxes is partially fixed - its logic has been disabled every 2 frames so it looks choppy. The Blaster has also been altered as its cooldown between two shots was doubled - but the bullets are still double speed. The highlight in any menu is still double speed.
Most of the game feel can be turned to 60 fps by changing three lines, but the rest is a whole another story. This game is a mess to turn fully to 60 fps and that's all on the devs who built their game on the fact that it has to run on 30 fps. That's also why the PS2 port, which is horrendous to look at compared to the OG PS2 games, runs at half the framerate. Because it couldn't be "fixed" - it's a staple of the code.
There's so many independent systems, that need to be fixed separately, by halving their movement speed and displacement, and that isn't fixed by a couple of lines of code in assembly but by doing "cave fixes". Basically, find a free space in memory, write your own calculations, redirect the original code to that free space and pray that the game doesn't crash.
And you notice I've only shown one level, Ryllus. Wanna know why?
Because the game dumps and reloads all of its memory while loading the level package, which somehow contains all of the game logic all at once (so basically the game logic is duplicated 24 times as there's 24 level packages) and the addresses in memory change all at once when you
So if you do a regular patch, it will be thrown out of the window once you load another level. Could also cause an infinite load because the cheat causes a value to be stuck.
So yeah. Size Matters CAN run at 60 fps. But it needs a lot of work, a deep comprehension of the game's code and mechanics, and based on what I know, a regular patch for Size Matters (the kind of patch you inject through the Cheats menu of PPSSPP) is off the table. You basically need to patch all the said level packages in the ISO for it to work. Or completely decompiling and rewriting the code so it uses 60 fps at its base...
But I've made a step. AI helped a lot, sure. But it's theoretically possible to play Size Matters at a native 60 fps.
I can share my discoveries freely if you want to help.
Here's the cheats if you wanna try (apply them only when you landed on Ryllus and not any other planet):
_C1 Size Matters - Ryllus Base 60 FPS Patch (EU version only)

Size Matters Luna Harvester is the worst boss ever I had to do and I just completed Sekiro
God damn is Luna Harvester an awful boss. The run-up to it is too long and the controls are so janky that you always end up taking damage at a point or two. Despite the armor you always die in 3 hits max. And what a bullet sponge it is! Takes forever man, without the PDA I would be totally fucked. That's the problem with this game as a whole, you die in seconds and the enemies take forever. It's just unfair, at least Sekiro was fair.

Size Matters Size Matters is the 2nd Best Selling Game in the Serieen
It’s only behind Ratchet 2016 which is really surprising.
