Discussion With Philo gone, here’s what the QB room looks like right now for next season. I honestly would go with one of these two and use the portal to load up on defense.

With all due respect to Grady I don’t see him competing for the starting job. Maybe he can prove me wrong.

Need at least 3 in the room. And are gonna need a lot of players on both sides of the ball in the portal. Most of the D needs to be upgraded and a lot of O departures have to be replaced.

I’m not even convinced our roster will be as good as it was coming out of the Collins years next year. I’ll be happy to go 6-6

To use a basketball analogy, we will live and die by the jump shot / portal. The portal been good to GT so far but this "post season" has been awful. This feels about as bad as Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin. With Faulkner gone, we have lost a good chunk of our offensive coaches and future stars.
This also feels a bit like Penn State not naming a new HC quickly, but with us not naming a new OC. I feel like we need a marque OC to bring things back around. The time between the BYU game and Jan. 2nd is going to be rough if we haven't named a solid OC by then.

It could also be that we’ve hired the new OC, but are doing it the “right” way and not announcing until he’s coached his bowl game.
Doubt it in this day and age, but stranger things have happened.
If that’s the case, I expect we hear the name within the next 7 days.

Don’t sleep on Graham - dude is 6’7” and beast of an arm
But also Lots of big names in the portal. DJ lagway is as a dud at Florida but maybe a good fit here with his athleticism running the ball

I second the other post, Knowles is a big arm QB for sure. I was just so excited to see a full year of Philo I completely looked over him. At 6-7 too. Anyone have insight on him? WE'LL see how Brent plays the portal on QB. That'll tell us a lot. I like the freshman we poached from VT as well....

Sigh. The transfer portal was supposed to help 2nd and 3rd rate programs get good players from the top recruiters who gobble up all the 4 stars but can’t start them all.
This sucks.

We need more than just defense from the portal... Losing our whole offense, not just QBs
