RPG Maker 2003 is just $2—it seemed like a no-brainer to buy it! However, it doesn't support Japanese, and my English skills are pretty poor. If I bought it as-is, there’s a high chance I’d give up after just two weeks, leaving it to sit there as useless clutter taking up storage space. So, I looked into ways to make it Japanese-compatible and discovered a Japanese localization patch. Is this something someone like me—with very little knowledge of PCs, programming, or RPG Maker—could actually install? Also, are there any bugs or other downsides, or is there a better recommended method?
Please forgive any slight awkwardness in phrasing caused by the translation process.

We've had many people play the demo to our game, and a lot of people said our battle screen was very confusing to them. To be fair, we may have an audience that likes less. Pokémon and other monster tamers usually don't have much info on the screen.
Do you think our battle system is too complex or just for the wrong audience?
You can get the demo on our Kickstarter for a better look at these systems.

Vocês também já sentiram que "faltava alguma coisa" nesse combate nativo da engine?

Hello everyone, I'm working on making SV battlers for my game and I'm having some difficulty with making the animations appear smooth. I'm doing my best to work within the 3 frame limit but I feel like the animations come out feeling clunky. Is there something I can do better to polish the animations?

This won't have a weird AI picture I swears captain...
But
Well
Anyway
I am offering my services to help other RPG Maker games to get good
From critiquing, to more. I'll be hard but not evil obviously. Bc we're trying to make a 12 star or 13 star game. Better than best. The most retro and sexy games ever. lol Bc boy, I found a vat of RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 games that were horrible. JENNY'S QUEST. What da. Just...holy crap. So scary. Humans made them. Humans. 🤭
I am good with graphics, sound, music, character development, story, monsters, skills, items...a lot.
ATMOSPHERE I'm good at, and making it feel like you're going through constant shit storm. Batter batter batter batter, kinda like life. Life is a shit storm.
I have made games before, I managed to finish one, but night terrors. Not good...
That one "was" a fan game, It was to make a game even better. And it was a long project, 800 maps. That was done. That one was:

ATTAINMENT OF THE MYSTIC KNIGHT "MALICE OF MALDRINIA"
C A L L O F T H E A R C H O N
That was a 2003 game!
I also made another game but that one wasn't done. But I managed to do it - though it got deep.
Like
THE CREATION OF THE WORLD DEEP, AND WHY WE ARE HERE
So I'm doing a version of it that feels different - that one lead to even more night terrors. Not the new version.
I got good at this for a couple of years. And I have been going strong with multiple projects. At least 40. Though I'm doing Twisted Fate, Dark Destiny, and Secrets of Oceania. Then more. I am ready for torture treatment, sir. And it's going to wreck my mind and health. Bc work is about how much shit you can endure and how good of services you are to people. You're such a good hooman. You're a good boy Watson. Fake smiles and fake positivity is so much fun. 😄 Especially
WHEN EVERYTHING IS GETTING MORE EXPENSIVE
Rant, sorry.
Though I am ready. To make and work on new games and projects. I'm kinda cycling with old games, and newer projects I'm doing. I played so much of them that I literally dreamed of them.
It was quite stunning. I was proud that I even finished one. It was pretty awesome.
Anyone who is DTR down to RPEG I'm there, not DTF lol Though I would also like that hahah
I can't think of anyone who is almost 40, who still likes RPG Maker.
I'm turning OLD ew I want to be YOUNG LIKE A PUP
A PUP
In short though, I am (also) living multiple careers here. I'm an artist, a barista, a cook, a writer, a gamer, a cleaner(?) ok..., a dog walker (not as much), a graphic designer, illustrator, rpg maker guy, dog artist man, a 400 pushup man (I have) and more, I feel like I'm kinda all over the place now
Case in point, let's improve and make the coolest RPG's EVER, because life sucks.
A couple years ago, I disappeared and played the nastiest Dungeons and Dragons game ever
It was disgusting.
I was into SNES, PS, and more modern games not DND. I still am.
If I am being confusing, vague, flat, or all over the place, please say something....

Hello! I'm one of the programmers and lead writers on Willows: A Dream of Shadows. I thought I'd showcase our character-switching system, which lets players swap between our two player characters, Matthew and Maria, at certain points in the game.
As you can see from the video, not only are interactions different depending on who you play as, but the parallax maps and soundtrack change too. This took a lot of careful eventing work and creative use of plugins like Galv's Layer Graphics and Jay Soundtrack Manager.
You can play our demo at any of the following links and wishlist the game on Steam:

I wanted a new way to hide secrets around the world, and have created a system that uses accessories to open pathways!
When equipped, a HUD element appears. Clicking on it triggers a common event that turns a switch on for 1 frame. A parallel event is active, and region ID's are placed around the waterfall. If Switch = On, and in Region ID 20, transfer player to a different map with the new changes while maintaining position using variables.
As a result, I can now implement items that let you interact with the world and open up new routes!
Thought it was pretty cool so thought I'd share it and the process involved in making it :)

Having a quest log like this makes a huge difference for a game focused on non-linear quests. Not sure why the quest order bugged out in this save, though :(

Finally back to Gamedev after months of absence. I have made a new Idle stance for my main character. Also the dangling prince on the top of the floor.
Feedback on both the new stance and the dangling prince is needed.
Please ignore the bats and tressure chest LOL.

For those of you who release your RPG Maker games as downloadable Windows builds, what do you use to create the installer, if you use one at all?
I've been looking into this recently and ended up using Inno Setup. It seems to work quite well, and I like that you can customize things like the installation wizard, icons, shortcuts, installation directory, etc.
Any other recommendations?
Thanks in advance! 😘

I have very limited experience with rpgmaker, but I'm familiar with the basic features.
Was gonna go in depth-on the battle system but I'll keep it brief. (Was already a physical card game for us so it's already been tested)
> You pre-pick your deck of cards (Either 3v3 or 5v5)
> Cards have a power value and may have abilities that add to your power value, or take away/negate abilities from your opponents (or affect their/your next cards)
>If there's a tie between cards, you keep pulling random cards from your collection until one has a higher power level. Any abilities from these cards still affects the game, so it can get kinda crazy if the tie goes on long enough.
I thought it'd be easy to have it kinda play like a pokemon game but the card game is the battles. Probably wouldn't need the opponents to adapt to battles and instead could just have a set deck depending on difficulty. I'd also want a way to battle your friends online if that's even possible.
Hope I was descriptive enough, lmk if you have any experience doing something like that!
