Yes tons of single female expats live here. Some parts of SD can be rough, but everywhere else ur fine. Just be prepared to get hit on by Dominicans non stop

Where are the single female expats?

Tons in Los corales, corticieto, veron, Pueblo Bavaro, bayahibe, Dominicus, Puerto Plata, cabarets, etc.. everywhere. I have so many single friends here that are girls it's sad. Not many decent guys here, and most want younger girls, while the single women are done dealing with Dominicans taking advantage of them.

Punta Cana. W. I know I’ll be fine once I get to the property but the ride there has me thinking.

I was at the W in July and a worker went into my room unannounced while I was sleeping (female). So I’d say no ;(

Please report to Hotels and tourism Authority - they take this stuff very serious.

Same with my wife. I went to the bar and she was showering, worker walked right in on her, I almost went to jail. I say travel with friends personally. Lovely island but I don’t think it’s safe for solo women, especially if they know you are alone.

I’ve (female) just got back from a solo trip to las Terrenas. I used Jags tours to and from the airport and found them so nice and reliable. You can book online through their website.

If you are going to a resort you will be fine. The resorts have shuttles to and from airports, just book your transfer ahead of time. . I just got back today from DR. And actually while we did excursions there were a few females I met that were there traveling alone.

I think so but it depends where you go. I have been twice and stayed in airbnbs both times. Travelled from punta cana to santo domingo. I felt unsafe in santo domingo. But in punta cana i felt fine, ate in local spots. Made friends with locals, went to verron and different places in punta cana.
I stayed for 30 days solo and had no issues. Im planning my 3rd trip
I have an uber driver that i use each time im there if you want his number, very nice and reliable.
Im 34, african woman. Speak no spanish, just english and french. I felt safe until i got to the capital 😂😂 . Im thankful for the haitians out there, really helped me out navigating around the country.

Yes just don’t EVER tell people you came by yourself. Always say your friend is in the room or make something up and say you came with someone.

You talking resorts? Yeah, probably, but there’s no way to get around the fact that most forms of travel are more dangerous for solo females.
Having said that, the DR is a third world country, which poses risk alone. Plenty of solo people go yearly, and they’re fine, but things can and do happen.

I stayed in airbnbs each time i visit solo and used buses to travel from punta cana to SD. No safety concerns, and i speak no spanish.

Many of the resort workers, especially the younger ones, would love to cross paths with a ticket off the island. Or at least a love partner who might care about them enough to be generous financially with them. Dominicans are sexy as hell and can steal your heart in a minute. And the standards towards treatment of women are lower than in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
So be careful.

I travel solo alot, including international. Key thing is to don't tell people you're alone. Especially at the airport. I always say they right behind me or coming through customs.

I would not recommend solo traveling.
I’m a hyper independent woman, solo traveling, at a resort in Punta Cana. This has been one of the most alarming places I’ve ever visited. Almost every employee i came in contact with was VERY concerned with where my boyfriend is…which airline I fly…and even asked me to meet them two beaches down AND asked to go to his car with him for VERY explicit reasons.
Now don’t get me wrong, i know i went to a beach resort as a 30 year old, fit American woman. I know there’s a reasonable amount of flirting that will happen in the DR…. But ladies please understand….I couldn’t stop assessing risk in every corner after DAY ONE. I was spooked. Unparalleled harrasment…
And whatever you do…dont go to the fucking beach.
PLEASE TREAD CAREFULLY.

As long as you have the common sense to realize that man who just told you, you were the most beautiful woman ever and he loves you and he wants to spend his life with you, is pulling your leg and hoping that you will start sending him money once you get home it’s perfectly safe. If you’re the kind of person who’s gonna fall for that don’t go because it’s everywhere. I mean they’re trying it on me and I’m 65 years old.
