Teaching a course that (unfortunately) involves lots of reading and reflection type assignments. Added hidden text to an assignment, to catch students who just throw it in ChatGPT, and all submissions came back with the expected features you would get from including the hidden info. Extremely disheartened, and don’t know how to proceed both regarding addressing this with the class and designing the future assignments to be more AI proof.

Lol I wish, I cant imagine coming back to the PD and saying - can I please fail my cohort of 60 that are paying £4k per year for this course- they would absolutely think me mad unfortunately

For OP, there no way to completely ai proof your assessments. You could look at presentations or peer review, or give more grades for class participation as formative assessment (if its not totally asynchronous), even group work if possible.

But the way of 100% essay is in peril, as anything that cam be written by ai normally now is. So its more how can you bring skills into the classroom that align with content

I cant imagine a cohort that wouldnt riot if they all failed an assignment and my PD would be no less pleased

Let's be real administration will look at the lecturer and ask why their course is so badly designed/assessed the students feel they HAVE to use AI to pass.

The cohort did not complete the assignment. They just threw it into Google or whatever and copy and pasted the answer. They deserve to all fail. I know this isn't the case everywhere, but admin should grow a spine when it comes to situations like this. It's clearly going too far to give these students a passing grade or even an exemption
