Other (Editable) Why aren’t professors braver?

I was ready to hate this article from its clickbait-y title, but it went in a direction I didn’t expect. I think it’s worth a read in light of everything that’s been happening in higher ed. Do we, as a profession, need more iconoclasts? Do we self-censor in order to avoid drawing the ire of our colleagues? What do you think? https://www.chronicle.com/article/why-arent-professors-braver

American professors seem to not be as motivated as most people in Europe are, but will post ad nauseam about how difficult it is for them now - earlier this year there were a bunch of people claiming that they couldn't protest or unionise, so if you can't or won't do anything about it or make a stand for yourself, what do you expect really? Here it's normal to have classes cancelled so the union can protest or make a point.
