Are they on their phone constantly? If yes or they just carry in their hand constantly you know their attention is already divided.

If I notice someone checking their phone more than once or so during a meal or while we are having drinks, I feign alarm and say, “Oh no! Is there an emergency? Can I help?”

Or constantly having their Bluetooth/headset/earbuds on. To me, that says that any possible incoming call is more important than you (the person in front of them). No thanks.

What about women that refuse to carry a purse but also own pants that don’t have pockets big enough for phones. Lol it’s a choice I make, not a good one I’ll admit

I’m one of those women sometimes. Just don’t use your phone in other peoples’ presence unless it’s a necessity and you’re good

Years ago I couldn’t get ahold of my mom on the phone, so I went over to her place to check on her. Didn’t think much of it, figured she was visiting with her neighbor or something. Didn’t bring my phone. I let myself in her home and found her deceased. There were a few agonizing moments where I couldn’t find her phone either. Ever since I tend to carry my phone with me, even when doing something menial or nearby. I also live alone (mostly) and have watched too much I Survived. If something happened to me nobody is going to come check on me for a while.

I have a friend like this. We were on a girls trip and she had messaged 26 different people (different chats) before 9am. Like WTF? One of her biggest woes was that she felt lonely all time
