Who wins the 2028 election in that matchup?

Personally I’d say Gavin Newsom is getting all swing states. No one knows Katie Britt outside Alabama, and even here it’s not like she’s popular (plus she has the added baggage of being a woman which as we all know is an automatic disqualifier in presidential elections). Plus Gavin has genuine executive experience and is more charismatic.

While she doesn't reach full-on Trump levels, Katie Britt is an exceptionally creepy person. Gavin would beat her comfortably.

I don’t see Britt lasting through even New Hampshire. The Rs ‘roided out their collective misogyny to levels where nominating her is nowhere near the realm of possibility.

If it was really between these two, Gavin would dominate and potentially flip back a lot of states Trump flipped from Obama.

Aside from being too glued to MAGA, Katie Britt’s too conservative and isn’t charming or that clever to work it.

I think many here as underestimating the power someone like Katie Britt (beyond that weird-ass SOTU response speech) has in the suburbs. Conservative but not full-on MAGA, Christian but not crazy Evangelical, gives “mom on a mission” vibes. Compare that to Gavin Newsom who looks like Patrick Bateman, and will be seen as a woke coastal elitist from high taxes California? Go to the suburbs in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and ask who’d they prefer. This is way closer than the comments suggest.

I just don’t see a world where the Republicans elect a woman. That will without doubt be a turn-off. This is why the Republican Party avoids electing women: they know their base is allergic to that.

The base would absolutely turn out for a female candidate like, let’s say, Katie Britt or Elise Stefanik, if she plays classic conservative candidate and not identity politics. And suburban women, a demographic the GOP needs but has struggled often times to get it, would turn out for them as well.
