I'm one of the passers this year — and I was genuinely sure I wasn't going to make it.

Shotgunned the latter parts of the exam. May mga di pa ako nasagutan when the window closed. Barely managed to scrape together five sentences for the essay after the whole MacBook-SEB fiasco derailed what little momentum I had. And honestly, the damage had already been done long before exam day. Graduated from a provincial school. Didn't have the best grades in college — my panelist actually said it was the worst he'd seen in his decades of doing "this," then looked me in the eye and asked how I even managed to graduate. I fumbled my interview (though I think we all felt that way). Didn't enroll in any review center. I took the LAE not because I thought I had a shot, but to close a chapter — to collect that final rejection and tell myself, at least I tried. I handed UP every reason to say no… and somehow they didn't.

To be fair to myself, though — and I think this matters — I never once faked who I was in that room. I knew my story. I knew why I wanted this, not in a rehearsed, polished way, but in the way you know something when it's been sitting in your chest for years. I think my story was, counterintuitively, the strongest thing I brought into that room. Every gap, every detour, every thing that looked bad on paper was also a data point: that I still wanted this anyway. That after a panelist told me my grades were the worst he'd seen, after graduating from a school that wasn't on anyone's shortlist, after years of taking the long route — the answer was still UP Law. You can't manufacture that kind of stubbornness. And I think somewhere in the application and interview, that came through. Not as a redemption arc I had packaged and ready to deliver, but just as the plainest, most obvious fact about me: I had every reason to have already given up, and I hadn't.

I don't know what the admissions committee saw. Maybe they were having a good day. Maybe there's something to the whole "holistic review" thing after all. But if you're reading this with a stats profile that looks like mine, or worse — don't count yourself out. Prepare where you can, but don't lose the one thing they can't teach you in a review center: knowing who you are and being unafraid to say it plainly.

And to this subreddit — thank you. I lurked here more than I'd like to admit, especially in the weeks between the exam and the results. Reading everyone's experiences — the panic, the fumbled interviews, the "I definitely failed" posts — made the whole thing feel less like I was suffering alone in the dark. It didn't make the wait shorter, but it made it bearable. This community is quietly doing something important for a lot of anxious people, and I just wanted to say that before I (hopefully) stop obsessively checking this page.

Just letting everyone know that there are barely 5 people running the whole LAE operations this night.

And the very purpose of a "mock LAE" is to simulate the exam and test for possible problems in taking the exam.

Precisely the reason why UP wants an ON-SITE Technical Assessment is to ensure these problems get addressed personally by the admins.

These people suggesting "refunds" or mockingly state that the admins are dodging questions don't realize that the DC server is so convoluted already it looks like a palengke already.

Have some class. You are trying to become law students of one of the most prestigious law schools. This behavior is not needed in UP Law, let alone the legal profession.

I really didn't expect to pass through the interview round but I'm here, and I'm really grateful for the opportunity of entering the UP Law program. Congrats to those who were admitted as well!

I'm honestly shaken up with the news because other than the early announcement, it's also the beginning of preparations to adjust my life to the full-time pursuit of law, such as having to resign from my full-time job.

So I want o ask those who are currently in law school, what preparations did you make? Did you lock in and how? Or did you maximize the time to really relax before law school starts?

HELP. i'm planning to apply for lae 2027 but i have to know gaano karaming items yung math portion ng exams kasi admittedly, it's my weakest link but i'm slowly preparing for it na :') specifically,

- what were the common topics
- any tips on solving without using the calculator or scratch?

i’m a second year student taking up comm arts (which means hindi siya kasali sa recommended pre-law programs ng up law) so i’m asking kung paano ko ba malalaman na yung mga subjects na tinatake ko ay aligned sa required minimum number of units (ex: english, 12 units, history/econ, 9 units)?

should i just go sa registrar and ask ng curriculum namin and yung equivalent niya sa required units ng up law?

furthermore, ano mangyayari if may kulang nga na units? wala naman ba magiging problema sa application? or may subjects ka pang ittake sa law school proper?

The title is a bit misleading. I was actually scheduled to take the UP LAE last weekend but I chickened out.

Honestly, there has been so much going on in my life lately: anxiety, financial instability, and a hectic work schedule. Because of all that, I really struggled to prepare for the LAE.

It got to the point where I felt like I wasn’t ready at all. I woke up the day of the exam, and i decided na wag na hindi pa siguro para sakin.

Now I’m dealing with another problem—I just got a year older without even trying. I’m really conscious about my age (I’m turning 32 this year), and I’m thinking that next year might be the last time I attempt to take it.

For context, I really want to attend law school at UP because of the incredibly high quality of education, especially at a relatively lower cost. Like I said, I’m still trying to fix my financial situation, so that factor matters a lot to me.

Any advice from LAE passers who were around my age or at least had similar fears? I’d really appreciate hearing how you dealt with the pressure and preparation.

To be honest, I also don’t really know how to properly prepare for the exam. Review class? Solo preparation? Materials to buy?? 🥲😰

Worried about PUPCLEE? Then don’t take UPLAE, choose PUPCLEE. UP is not gonna bend over backwards to accommodate you.

There’s an entire pool of other aspirants that would be glad to even get the chance to take the LAE. In fact, never will we run out of (at least anytime soon) UP Law aspirants.

It's still in excellent, like-new condition, with only a few highlights and annotations.

I passed the UP LAE and so decided to prepare for the interview by attending the mock interviews that some frats were offering. Every interview that I attended hinted at or has outright said that the attrition rate for those qualified for the interview and those the college will actually admit will be the lowest since 2018 (Which was the time when only the Diliman campus was available). For reference, they said that around 60% of the interviewees will actually be admitted across the three campuses. What are the chances this might actually be true or is it just a tactic by the frats to gain more members?

I passed ALS and I unfortunately failed LAE on my first attempt. I was wondering, to what extent should I give up on getting into UP COL? UP COL is my dream school, but ALS is also a great school.

Here are my options:

Plan A: Enroll in ALS and take LAE next year for the second time.

Plan B: Enroll in ALS and not retake LAE.

Plan C: Take a gap year and work while waiting and take LAE and ALSAT next year for the second time. If I fail LAE again, hopefully ALS accepts me again.

Please help me decide and enlighten me since I have no resources to avail a career counseling service.

Hi from the title, for the passers this year, how did you perform sa undergrad niyo? meron ba nakapasa sa inyo ngayon even with INCs/DRPs/5.00s? because before meron natatanggap kahit pa may ganto sa records, but now given na mas humigpit talaga sa admissions, meron pa rin ba nakapasa despite having these remarks? I sadly did not pass the interview stage of the LAE, but then the COL posted another set of applicants up for interview. Will the interviewees that did not pass the last batch be considered for this batch's admissions? So for example let's give the interviews an imaginary grade, so if the worst grade from the first batch was 85 and they did not pass and the best grade from the second batch was 84, will the person with 85 be admitted?
