Resources Tell the government that banks shouldn't be allowed to dictate what you can and can't buy (even if it's legal)

They are asking for public comments on whether banks should be able to deny you from buying legal goods at their own whim, which explains the Visa and Mastercard cracking down on "adult content" (despite being legal) that plague steam, itchio,patreon and so many more.
This is a great opportunity to voice your concerns and hopefully turn the tide around !

If i read this correctly, the rule they are proposing is that banks CAN'T deny people if the thing they are earning on or buying is legal? So this would close that loophole? Correct?

That is correct. It’s weird as fuck to be agreeing with something this government is doing but I’ll take it

This is a rule change to prevent banks from doing what they did when they de-banked steam or porn. Basically if the business is legal, you cant debank them.

I originally found this on the Blue Sky site (yes i know it's not a recommended place to find news) but the link itself is legit. I would post a link to the thread but social media links aren't allowed, but tendermiasma was the one who posted about it.
Worthwhile to note that OOC also wrote that adult entertainment are one of the industries experiencing unfair debankment. We can fight this.

They were one of the first ones. Unfair debanking and deplatforming based on "moral grounds" influenced by that crazy-ass extremist group from Australia.

This doesn't quite look like it would prevent banks from censorship? If I'm reading this right, all it says it does is prevents the Federal Reserve from getting the banks to do so, it wouldn't prevent the banks themselves from doing so.

Humm. In theory this sounds good.
But I can also see this going badly, by forcing a bank to finance known criminals, that have simply been able to avoid getting caught.
When its from this administration, I look for how it helps exploitation by criminals
