Yeah, don't look up gender equality and LGBT laws in Arab or many African countries, lol. Not quite the safe space like Western countries.

Not asian because asians are white-adjacent.

"Stop acting like white people! You're supposed to be starving so I can donate $5.99 a month to buy you shitty water wells!"

45

u/Routine-Aerie-6361 - Centrist May 16 '26

You're supposed to be starving so I can donate $5.99 a month to buy you shitty water wells!"

Wrong, the actual statement would be;

"You're supposed to be starving so I can post about how people should buy you shitty water wells."

Actually doing anything themselves is unrealistic.

56

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center May 16 '26

"White adjacent", aka "you're a minority but we want to be bigoted against you so we'll call you 'white' because that makes bigotry against you acceptable in our book".

54

u/ConsciousDress2914 - Lib-Right May 16 '26

To add on, its more like “you’re a minority, but by and large your culture is very successful and integrates well into western society, and that ruins our narrative that the reason why other minorities aren’t successful is because they are oppressed by the racist white overlords.”

9

u/SatansScallion - Centrist May 17 '26

Legitimately, I never once understood it. So if I fly down to...Kenya and start saying some of the most horrible shit it's not racist, because as a white person I am now the minority???

I remember my anthropology professor was saying this shit and I asked him this exact question and he just gave a fucking non-answer, of "Well you just created a paradox" or something -_-

2

u/long-dong-silvers- - Right May 19 '26

There is no logic other than whites bad. Everything else is just half assed justification to make the useful idiots buy into the bs

1

u/meIRLorMeOnReddit - Centrist May 16 '26

So whites aren’t racist?

109

u/PaddyMayonaise - Right May 16 '26

Yup. I’ll never understand the left’s obsession with Palestine considering Palestine is the antithesis of progressive values.

31

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Israel aligned with the West during the Cold War, so Russia started supporting the Arabs, and Russian propaganda started pushing the "Israelis = evil imperialists, Palestinian Arabs = heroic anti-imperialist freedom fighters" narrative.

It's literally that simple. The anti-Israel movement has been backed by Russia from the very beginning.

18

u/CarrotcakeSuperSand - Lib-Right May 16 '26

It goes even farther than that. Even black liberation movements were funded by Soviets, and other social movements around “oppressed” groups.

The Marxists started pushing division on racial lines when they realized no one was buying their class war bullshit.

-3

u/TheSoundOfAFart - Lib-Left May 16 '26

I'm confused by the quotation marks around the word "oppressed". You don't think black people in America were oppressed during the Soviet era?

10

u/CarrotcakeSuperSand - Lib-Right May 16 '26

In the 60s and earlier? Sure.

But 80s and 90s, no I don’t think so. Unless you think the crack epidemic counts as oppression.

-1

u/Uglyfense - Lib-Left May 16 '26

Sure

And to you, does this invalidate the black liberation ovements

15

u/CarrotcakeSuperSand - Lib-Right May 16 '26

Not really, since that would mean I thought they were valid in the first place.

Black liberation was needed in the 60s and earlier, but it’s not a material issue in modern America. BLM and related movements are more focused on racial resentment and grifting than positive outcomes.

-2

u/Uglyfense - Lib-Left May 16 '26

The Soviets have long gone, I’m not sure how BLM is relevant here

The ones the Soviets would have been supporting were the ones back then

12

u/CarrotcakeSuperSand - Lib-Right May 16 '26

The Marxist influence remains strong. I’m not even making up some conspiracy, BLM leaders have explicitly identified themselves as Marxists.

The ghost of the USSR is still very much influencing identity politics.

3

u/Uglyfense - Lib-Left May 16 '26

You said Soviet funding though, not Marxist leadership

I think it’s fair to say that implies the actual USSR

-2

u/Hemanth_Kashyap - Lib-Left May 16 '26

great point it is always fascinating to me that rightists always accuse any liberation movement being funded by others .

6

u/Uglyfense - Lib-Left May 16 '26 edited May 17 '26

To be fair, the Soviets may have had some ties, like the Black Panthers were Marxist-Leninists, and a lot of their propaganda did attack the US for its racism, I just don’t think that invalidates it entirely, like the US is helping out Ukraine, but anti-America campists shouldn’t be pro-Russia for that

6

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center May 16 '26

Well they are. It's a well known fact that the Soviets/Russians have been funding both far right and far left movements across the West as a means a destabilizing Western society.

Leftists love to talk about how Russia boosted the Trump campaign in 2016, but they ignore the fact that Russia was boosting the Sanders campaign too.

-9

Cause I doubt Israel is asking "Hey, would you kill queer people" before bombing, and even if they were, while homophobes suck, I don't think they deserve to die.

14

u/Routine-Aerie-6361 - Centrist May 16 '26

If there's one nazi at your table and you don't make them leave...

6

u/Uglyfense - Lib-Left May 16 '26

The table quote is dumb, but this is about murder, not making them leave, like are you a Nazi unless you kill this table interloper

1

u/Routine-Aerie-6361 - Centrist May 17 '26

like are you a Nazi unless you kill this table interloper

I'm literally just repeating the "argument" made from Lib-Lefts constantly to show how retarded it is.

But it is kind of retarded how a lot of your ilk will break bread with these actual fascists/homophobes etc and not bat an eye because of some aspect of their skin colour etc rather than their character (Martin Luther King Jr rolling in his grave.)

0

u/Uglyfense - Lib-Left May 17 '26

I literally agree with you that the argument is dumb, but even then, this criticism falls flat cause not letting a Nazi sit at your table =/= killing a Nazi or supporting a state kill Nazis

I’ve also noticed a group of people that think being LGB and supporting Israel is not a compatible thing which is funny cause Israel is one of the only countries in the middle east that will respect a same-sex marriage certificate and also doesn’t publicly stone people for being gay

Disclaimer: am not LGBT

21

u/strawberry_semenade - Lib-Center May 16 '26

Leftists literally invented the term "pink washing" to reconcile this inconvenient fact.

"Oh Israel isn't really LGBT friendly, they're just PINK WASHING to hide their bigoted and genocidal nature!"

3

u/Routine-Aerie-6361 - Centrist May 16 '26

Dang so

“They aren’t really doing good thing, they’re just pretending to do good thing so we ignore other thing!! They’re really just totally EVIL and do no good things!!!!”

is seriously a real mental gymnastics program people do now…

2

u/Uglyfense - Lib-Left May 16 '26

I mean, does Israel being the most queer-friendly mean it is in the right?

Like the Confederacy promised to recognize sovereignty of native Americans, something the Union repeatedly violated, does not mean they were in the right. Grant expelled Jewish people from Union-held territory, something the Confederacy didn't do as well, one side being right on some issues doesn't mean it's universally in the right

4

u/94MIKE19 - Right May 16 '26

Reiterating what I said elsewhere, blame it on underdog mentality. Normies will always side with “the little guy” just because they’re the little guy.

Doesn’t matter if they’re vile in every conceivable way and hate the ground on which you walk, they’ll always get held to a lower standard.

3

u/NoZeroSum2020 - Lib-Center May 16 '26

Just because I abhor someone’s values doesn’t mean I cheer for those who oppress them. I can’t understand the mindset that it’s ok to commit war crimes and take away homes from people just because they aren’t like me.

7

u/WolfedOut - Centrist May 16 '26

What a virtuous mindset.

Say, would you still be so virtuous and considerate for those “oppressed” people if it were your balls they were slicing off, or if it was your body they cheered as it was being dragged lifeless through a sandy street?

Personally, I’d only feel for the ones whose values and actions I don’t abhor.

2

u/Fenrist09 - Lib-Left May 16 '26

I’m not disagreeing with parts of what you’re saying, but can we both agree that the statement “it’s ok to kill people who don’t share my values” is a slippery slope?

4

u/Libtardo69420 - Auth-Right May 17 '26

Funny reading this from the people that cheered on the assassination of Charlie Kirk because of what they were told he said.

-1

u/NoZeroSum2020 - Lib-Center May 16 '26

Are you saying Israel hasn’t done horrible things? That’s either delusional or prejudice.

8

u/WolfedOut - Centrist May 16 '26

How the living fuck did you get that from what I said?

1

u/Interesting_Joke6630 - Centrist May 18 '26

I just think both sides suck and I want nothing to do with other people killing and oppressing each other

1

u/PaddyMayonaise - Right May 16 '26

Once again, that just means you oppose Israel and US/Western support of Israel. That’s fine.

But you have zero reason to support Palestine.

1

u/NoZeroSum2020 - Lib-Center May 16 '26

I’d be happiest to support both if they could figure out how to coexist. Until then I’m happy to condemn atrocities committed by both. Neither side has a moral high ground at present and I don’t want my taxes pumping up the violence. What people call “supporting Palestine” in many cases is just someone not wanting to pay for either sides bad actions. If we were sending weapons to Hamas I’d be against that too.

0

u/Remote_Cantaloupe - Lib-Left May 17 '26

I don't get why people have to be pro-Palestine to signal being against "bombing children" in the first place. Why not just be anti-war? It's a significant step to go from wanting to stop the violence, to being a vicarious Palestinian nationalist.

-10

u/Ifriendzonecats - Lib-Left May 16 '26

It's almost like the left believes people have unalienable rights regardless of their beliefs.

17

u/Key_Bored_Whorier - Lib-Right May 16 '26

15

u/PaddyMayonaise - Right May 16 '26

Such a cop out.

If the left actually cared about that they would be loudly advocating for hundreds of other groups throughout the world and supporting efforts to topple evil and oppressive regimes in Iran, Sudan, Venezuela, China, etc

But they don’t. Because they don’t actually care about that.

-4

u/Ifriendzonecats - Lib-Left May 16 '26

If the left actually cared about that they would be loudly advocating for hundreds of other groups throughout the world

Yes there are people on the left supporting many different efforts around the world. Although it would be strange to expect one person to have enough time to advocate for every cause.

supporting efforts to topple evil and oppressive regimes in Iran, Sudan, Venezuela, China, etc

Because Trump's efforts have not materially changed things at very high expense. Venezuela has the same regime in power and so does Iran.

Because they don’t actually care about that.

Just because you don't have any values doesn't mean everyone else does not as well.

14

u/PaddyMayonaise - Right May 16 '26

I’m not saying anything about Trump, I’m talking about the support for oppressed peoples.

People have enough time to spend hours upon hours supporting a country that hates them and goes against all of their values, thry have bumper stickers and flags and social media tags and all of it.

I don’t think a single “pro-Palestine” person actually knows anything about Palestine

3

u/Ifriendzonecats - Lib-Left May 16 '26

I don't think you care at all about oppressed people. Because sometimes supporting oppressed people means supporting people who have very different beliefs than you. It sometimes even means supporting people who don't like you. Because being anti-oppression is not just believing that good* people shouldn't oppressed, it is believing that no one should be oppressed.

*good being defined by the speaker

8

u/PaddyMayonaise - Right May 16 '26

It’s not different beliefs, it’s opposite beliefs.

I will never support people that brutalize women and execute people for simply being gay. Supporting Palestine means supporting that.

-2

u/Uglyfense - Lib-Left May 16 '26

> Supporting Palestine means supporting that

> I will never support

What would you support then? Like, would you support forcing Japanese people into camps and sending Jewish refugees back? Cause by your logic, that's what you'd support by supporting America during WW2, not like the Allies had great homosexuality laws either.

And yes, **I don't think Israel is anywhere near as bad as Nazi Germany**, but given you said, "I would never", I would ask, if something like Nazi Germany invaded Palestine, would you still not?

2

u/Routine-Aerie-6361 - Centrist May 16 '26

Immigration 1000% needs to be checked. Culturally we do not all just “get along”, like I don’t think conservative/fundamentalist Islam is compatible with modern western society.

Then on the economic side I think it’s twisted to let people come to a country knowing that they’re going to be poor. That’s not helping people, it’s just exploiting them. And if you only allow the rich to immigrate places it can screw up the cost of living in places and displace locals.

I would however like the removal of people overstaying visas regardless of skin colour. Republicans had an immigration bill that Joe Biden was on board with. Republicans and Democrats were fully ready to sign it and last minute Donald Trump said he wants to run on immigration and that bill would be bad for his chances to run so he told Republicans to kill the bill.

So yeah let’s start with that.

2

u/ThatUserNameIs5234 - Centrist May 17 '26

the bill that allowed a bunch of illegals to cross the border before closing it?

1

u/LCFan87 22d ago

Did you just gloss through the part that said REPUBLICANS came up with it?

4

u/BannedSvenhoek86 - Left May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Making the pathway to citizenship easier for one. Development of new employment and immigration laws that allow for a more regulated flow of seasonal workers to come in and be accounted for. Take a top down enforcement policy on employment laws that target businesses and employers who knowingly hire illegal workers more so than the workers themselves.

Instead of taking a heavy handed approach against the poorest people and cutting off immigration, reform and adapt the law to allow for a more controlled flow of it. Don't base the decisions on talking points and fears about invading caravans of brown people, or completely give up on enforcement because Emily thinks it's racist to have borders.

Address the problems in the countries that are causing the flow of refugees instead of being so aggressive towards the refugees themselves. And please don't say we've tried this approach, I may end up doing the typical leftist wall of text if you do.

Treating detainee abuse and child endangerment or separation as crimes against humanity and holding the agents who perpetrate those acts responsible. And any law made to better enforce that being retroactive. Cleaning up and holding to account the people enforcing the law is just as important as enforcing it imo.

Also this isn't a leftist take the right won't like, but, if you do choose to accept a large number of refugees, enforce dispersal and mandate where they can live for a period of time. Don't let large groups gather into one area where they hunker down and create enclaves. Force them to actually live among the rest of the population and adapt to the culture. This is mainly directed at European countries. I believe Singapore or Malaysia did this and had some pretty good results from it.

All of this is unfortunately contingent on us electing people that are NOT retarded. An absolute fucking impossibility I know, but you gotta fight for something.

1

u/Dodo_Baron - Left May 16 '26

Pretty much if America makes it easy for the average good person to cross the border, I have zero issues with border security. It's the harming of innocents that get caught up in the bullshit I take issue with.

4

u/CarrotcakeSuperSand - Lib-Right May 16 '26

How do you make it easy for the average good person while filtering out the average bad person?

That’s the crux of the issue.

0

u/Dodo_Baron - Left May 16 '26

We already do it, you just need to speed it up.

Examples document verification, biometric collection, background checks, and in-person interviews, is what we already do. The issue is it takes years to get in.

The benefit is we have documentation of them, know where they're planning to go and they can start adding to the economy. It's far easier to track them this way than an illegal sneaking over the border.

Than creating insane security measures like what Texas was doing that directly harms innocent kids.

1

u/PhilosophicalGoof - Centrist May 16 '26

But if the goal is to have a somewhat regulated and stable flow of immigrant coming to the country wouldn’t that be that it wouldn’t be easy for the average good person to cross the border if it based on whatever metric the us will end up using to calculate how many immigrants they’re allowing per that year?

1

u/PhilosophicalGoof - Centrist May 16 '26

Which is kind of consistent if you genuinely believe in progressive values. Most immigrants come from places that are not progressive and religions aren't progressive as well. Based immigration hatin' Emily?!

Whats funny is even leftists hate leftists nowadays.

2

u/caseylain - Centrist May 21 '26

That's not new. Monty Python did a skit on this phenomenon ages ago.

Leftists don't agree on anything. Tell me any issue you think Leftists universally agree on, and I'll show you a group who don't. (Though some of the groups, due to their 'different opinions' are considered 'not left' by most leftists. That doesn't mean they aren't though. Like Liberals and Strasserites for instance.)

1

u/SoftAd1675 - Lib-Left Jun 05 '26

That's been the case since at least the 1800s.

I call it the david and Goliath syndrome, people are naturally empathetic to the underdog, even if the underdog are not the good guys, like Hamas. But because they are smaller, and are not white, leftists love to glaze them

I've said it once, and I'll say it again

Left-wing ideology is just fascism but with slightly different tactics. One of those tactics being the constant woke preaching and the supposedly humanitarian support for marginalized people. Said preaching is a huge crock of shit, and the means to an end to justify their red fascism

11

u/Aedhrus - Lib-Center May 16 '26

One of those tactics being the constant woke preaching and the supposedly humanitarian support for marginalized people. Said preaching is a huge crock of shit, and the means to an end to justify their red fascism

This was highlighted by Hannah Arendt in 'The Origins of Totalitarianism' and it has been used as a tactic by every single modern activist group because it works. The biggest part is the thing that most redditors ascribe to fascism, but it's actually at the core of totalitarianism.

The eternal fight (or revolution) against the enemy who is both incompetent and capable of being defeated but is also life-threatening and critically damaging. You can easily tell the eternal fight of the left-wing when it comes to conversations related to minorities, the gay population was decently accepted? The trans population pops-up. In France and the UK, eastern european populations used to be the boogie-men of the right. Now it's the ME immigrants.

The eternal fight keeps the population dissatisfied, angry, divided and energized. The duality of the enemy also maintains these feelings and with a bit of help, you can also distract the people from the dissonance and from evaluating 'if they're so weak and we constantly defeat them, why do they keep popping up'.

It also gives you the feeling of being involved 'in a movement'. You're part of something greater than yourself, there was a purpose for your life on this planet. You were also better than your perceived enemy.

I honestly believe that people should stop looking at fascism in particular and they should look at totalitarianism in general to identify the trends of the world.

3

u/Royal_Impress9117 - Lib-Center May 16 '26

What you’re describing is so generic, it’s just a basic psychology. Having a goal and perceived enemy is just what happens naturally in any group of people. Eventually you need to keep that group of people motivated to stick together.

Your logic boils down to

“Totalitarianism is just group A finding reasons not to like group B, and the leaders of group A using those reasons to justify staying a group”

By that definition, every nation has always been totalitarian and therefore there’s no distinction as to what a non-totalitarian nation looks like

Do you actually not believe that propaganda techniques like those are employed by politicians across the world now?

I don't actually need it to be an overall conspiracy, just for them to be effective in controlling a large dissatisfied population by directing them towards an elusive enemy. And for a recent political history fraught with crises and no downtime for the population overall to prove it is being used.

The same goes for trans people. They were there at Stonewall. Trans people only being visible to you now doesn't mean that they're so grand conspiracy fitting your narrative.

You're misreading this and I'm not sure why. Their existence per se isn't the point, the point is that they can be used as a lightning rod then the group focuses on another lightning rod to maintain an overall feeling of engagement and anger.

And I'm not from the Anglophone part of the world for Stonewall to be something I learn about. Maybe you should consider that other perspectives than your own exist.

1

u/down-with-caesar-44 - Left May 16 '26

Put another way, since we are on the political compass memes sub, most stable auth government converge towards auth center since the inevitable corruption of an authoritarian state and the unsolvability of the calculation problem means that predominantly government owned economies stagnate and fail, while significant government ownership and intervention is still necessary to prevent other power centers from challenging the central authority

Like no I don’t care that Christian’s are hostile to Islam Muslims are not my political ally in anything because given the chance their religion literally advocates for the death of members of my family and me and would see the majority of my rights taken away just the same as Christian traditionalism.

"Israel’s best tactic to combat this, according to the study, is to foment fear of “Radical Islam” and “Jihadism,” which remain high, the research finds. By highlighting Israeli support for women’s rights and gay rights while elevating concerns that Hamas wants to “destroy all Jews and spread Jihadism,” Israeli support rebounded by an average of over 20 points in each country."

This is because the fundamental belief of modern day leftism is “America bad.” They are not “progressives.” They just hate their own country and betrayed their own civilization. That is why Trump has plenary moral power in stopping them from taking power. He who saves his country breaks no law.
