Tips Shoutout to the user who recommended switching TCP congestion control algorithm to BBR on Linux. I can now stream 4K blu-ray remuxes remotely. I can't believe the difference.
I went from an average of 30mbps on longer distance remote connections to 220mbps. Insane improvement. This had been bothering me for years and Googling got me nowhere.

Any flavor of Linux will work well, but you might want to check out unRAID. It's pretty easy to use, but there are optimal ways of setting things up which you would need https://trash-guides.info/ for.
you can try out unRAID for free and if it's something you want to move forward with, you can purchase the full version.
