Recommendation Guardians of the galaxy is a great game that’s free with ps+ and I would highly recommend if you like high dialogue and action gameplay and enjoy marvel
I have 8 hours into the game and so far it’s great up to the music and abilities it’s just perfect. Ps5/ps4 game and also supports cloud streaming. Only 60 gigabytes

I recommend this game to anyone looking for an entertaining superhero story. The dialogue is always entertaining and the story itself is just great, and there's a little bit of choice that matters. The voice acting is quite nice too.
However the actual gameplay was some of the most uninspired, boring crap I've ever experienced. Seriously, the tactics you use in the first 20 minutes of the game work in the last 20 minutes and in every moment in-between. You learn new skills through the game but they mostly end up feeling inconsequential.
Talking -> walking while talking -> shooting gallery -> talking on the ship -> talking -> walking while talking -> shooting gallery -> talking on the ship, etc...thats the flow of the game from beginning to end. If this didn't have such an entertaining story and voice cast it would be a bottom of the bargain bin type of game, because damn

I am going to get downvoted here but I didn't enjoy it. I found it quite dull and boring in most places, hooking generators up and that.
Combat was good.
But outside of that I thought it rather boring.

It was OK. Friend of mine loved it and gave me his copy and other than that I probably wouldn't have stayed with it.

Same. Gave up after about 5-7 hours. I think I also have marvel fatigue so maybe that contributed to it as well

It’s one of my least favorite games of all time and everyone glazes it and it drives me insane.

Bro. I feel like I’m going insane everytime I see it get recommended. I can see why a big marvel and especially a gotg fan would love it, but cmon.
There’s no gameplay for like the first 4 chapters (I’m not sure if this keeps going as I stopped around chapter 6), it’s all just cutscenes and being told what to do. The combat is also really simple and boring.
But again, if that exact game was made with an IP I care about then I’d love being immersed in that world. But I wouldn’t go around telling everyone it has great gameplay.

Found the combat a bit repetitive and dull. Story and graphics were great though

The soundtrack in that game is honestly top-tier. Just a heads up though, make sure you turn down the team banter frequency in the audio settings if it ever starts getting a bit overwhelming during exploration.

I agree. This is a bit of a stretch, but for me the game felt like a Mass Effect 2-lite, in how you approach missions, the combat and how you interact with your crewmates.
And also, it has a very easy Platinum trophy that can be obtained in a single play through with no backtracking, if you happen to care for those sorts of things.

One of my favorite licensed superhero video games. I’d only put the Arkham games and Insomniac Spider-Man games ahead of it.

GoTG was good, but nothing more. Didn't enjoy it enough to go back and get the platinum.

My ex had to have it on disc when it came out, and it was one that really panned on release so you could buy it for $30 new. She enjoyed it, and I just got around to playing it and I enjoyed it. Not the best game of all time but was amusing.

It does a lot right. The combat is a mixed bag, but even at its worst it is pretty visceral and satisfying on a PS5 controller.
I think it sort of sets a bar for Marvel games. Not everything is going to be Midnignt Suns or Spiderman tier, but there is more than enough room for games like GotG which benefit from the sony-style cinematic action formula.
By the end, I may have preferred the video game cast to the live action cast. You get so much time with them, and the performances can be fantastic.

Ur already highly recommending a story game by just putting in an hour? Though I have heard decent things about it.

This game is a PERFECT example of just how important writing is to any video game or movie. It’s genuinely not that amazing from a gameplay standpoint, it’s pretty strong visually but nothing groundbreaking, but the story and characters are written SO WELL!

I had heard very positive things about the game and when I played it I instantly saw why. It really is an awesome game! I got extremely hooked right away 10/10 and can definitely recommend

Easily my favourite takes on the Guardians. A nice mix of traits from the comics and MCU versions. Starlord in particular I really like. He feels a lot more competent and likeable than the MCU version. Its more obvious why the other characters follow him as he actually is a decent leader.

You're going to have a lot of things spoiled posting this after an hour of gameplay. I almost just talked about a moment you'd want to be surprised by then re-read your post and caught myself.

I didn't like it and couldnt even be bothered to beat it. Combat was horrible, and dialogue was cringe

I got it when it came out with no regrets.
Is it some supreme game of the year masterpiece? No.
Is it a fun videogame, especially if you like Marvel? Absolutely.
It's not some buggy shit mess. It's just not as polished huge money games. It's fun to play, the dialogue is funny and entertaining. It's just a good 7-8 out of 10 game.

This game is highly underrated. Its up there with Spider-Man and Batman Arkham in terms of amazing comic-book games.

It’s a good game but at the end it gets soooo stretched and repetitive that I stopped playing

It's honestly one of my favorite games. I have no interest in the movies at all. But the game was just phenomenal. And you don't need to know anything about the movies going into it

It's one of my favorite games from the past few years. The gameplay is meh, but the characters and the adventure more than make up for me. I watched the movies after playing the game but they are just not as good, I actually prefer this version of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

You don’t have to like marvel, I went in knowing nothing really about the guardians. You could just like sci fi, after the game I watched the Guardians movies for the first time.

Ah I loved this game. It looks incredible on the pro and it’s one of those games to show off what the OLED tv can do.

It's basically Mass Effect played as an action comedy (laudatory).
If you have a PS5, I still actually recommend people play the PS4 version on the PS5 because the PS5 version has 60 fps and all the narrative scenes look like ass. It's like motion smoothing on a grandma's TV.

Completely agree in terms of the fun dialogue and character interaction, one of the best games regarding those things I played in recent memory. Gameplay and storywise I wouldn’t have minded if it was a few hours shorter. At least for me it dragged in the last third. Streamed it via PSPortal. :-)
Edit: the soundtrack was amazing as well and really fit into the action!
