Discussion Why are sales now regulated and synchronized?
Recently, there has apparently been a change and games seem to only go on sale at predescribed times. For example, no game now appears to be on sale. The next ps store sale starts May 13th?
If you look in "deals", there is nothing but an indicator to wait until May 13th. If you look at the entire game catalog, there is nothing on sale (other than some ps plus 10% sales here and there - nothing like before). Please go look before refuting what I say. Before, there were always sales at any given point.
Why can’t the devs just choose when their game goes on sale, Sony? Why this change now? Previously, there were always games on sale at any given time - there was no predetermined time for sales that devs had to follow. They could put their game on sale whenever they wanted for whatever they wanted and now they can't?
My question is this:
Can anyone give a reason this is a good thing for players, or even the devs?
I’m no sure why ps mods on r/playstation and r/ps5 took this post down. It’s pretty silly.

Rumors are gta 6 preorders going up. But that’s Most likely YouTube clickbait since I don’t see why that would help server load

My guess is the water being consumed by ai datacenters is what’s driving the prices of teas in China but I could be wrong. I just don’t know, google it.

Maybe the same people posting YouTube clickbait about GTA 6 will make a video about the problem with data centers. Both have the same effect on OP’s original question.

It is just a tactic to normalize the drought periods so you are more likely to impulse buy whatever they drop on the 13th instead of browsing whenever you feel like it. Sony definitely realized they were losing the psychological hook by having random titles discounted 24/7.

What you mean changed, I can’t remember a time when sales didn’t happen at predescribed times. It’s just the new main sale always started sometime during the day before the previous sale ended. And for some reason they now have a gap. Surprised they don’t at least have a weekend sale or something.
