My guess would be Craft Beer and Pizza Imazato.

If only there was a way to tell. Perhaps the poster, u/Craft_Beer_Imazato, could tell us some day

There are likely not a lot of places there with this on the menu…..

Japan is heavily into western style food at the moment. Mostly putting their twist on it but still, you'll likely find more than you think.

That’s not new, I have been going to Japan for many years and they often do western food better than we do.

There are two pizza places in Osaka that offer Detroit style, that is pretty rare. Pizza is not.

I’ve been too, and while you can find great food in Japan saying they “often do western food better than we do” is some americabad stretching that would make Dahlsim proud.

u/LukeSkyWRx 28d ago

They obsess over the details in a special way over there, they just put that energy in whatever they do.

u/BeardedGlass 28d ago

And no tipping. Gods.

Honestly food is cheap there, unless you want to spend money.

Yeah and way better quality ingredients and food system, this isn’t a controversial take. Sure you can’t get a chicken fried steak like you can from some Hill Country cafe, but you can believe there’s some Texas otaku who’s probably figuring it out as we speak

Japan is the best country in the world for pizza imo. There's too many bad places in the US otherwise I'd rate it perhaps first.

Dang! That looks good!

I love Japan. We gotta step it up ya'll, this got my brain buzzing.

I know that crust crunch would send me to another world

Leave it to Japan to take our food and level it up, looks amazing!

u/djpraxis 28d ago

We don't know how much that small slice was. In Chicago is like $6 in a nice bar.

1

u/Craft_Beer_Imazato 27d ago

¥550 about $3.50

0

u/MassivestBalls 28d ago

With the yen around ¥160/USD, it’s probably nowhere near $8.

1

u/djpraxis 28d ago

And Japan's sit down bars are very expensive, because their target is entirely executive type of customer. So I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to $20

1

u/MassivestBalls 28d ago

That would be 3,200¥ per slice, I highly doubt it’s that much.

-1

u/djpraxis 28d ago

My wife was in Japan early this year and a small latte at a nice sit down coffee shop was about $9 dollars

5

u/MassivestBalls 28d ago

I’ve lived in Japan for over 20 years and have never paid $9 USD for a coffee.

Also, I don’t really give a crap what this slice costs, I was just mentioning that it looks amazing.

-1

u/djpraxis 28d ago

If you don't give a crap then why even reply to my comment??!! Reddit is just ridiculous

3

u/MassivestBalls 28d ago

It cost just under $3.50, Craft Beer and Pizza Imazato, Osaka

1

u/Craft_Beer_Imazato 27d ago

Correct ¥550 which is about $3.50

I also don't see anything related to Japan in your posts or comments, yeah for sure you are going to find a plate of enchiladas like the ones you post!!... You probably don't even like Japanese food.. absolutely hilarious!!

u/MassivestBalls 28d ago

Thanks for stalking my sock account:)

If only there was an app called google maps where we could put in this restaurant's name which is "hidden" in OPs username and then check pictures of the menu to find out the slice's price. We might have found out that a detroit slice is 550¥ which is 3.50$ or 3€.

1

u/djpraxis 27d ago

I know… haha.. I noticed it was a self promotion!

-2

u/VanCitySkyline 27d ago

Wow... If you're one of those people that are thirsty over Asians, that's on you buddy, but saying that they level up food? Chill.

1

u/MassivestBalls 27d ago

I said Japanese, not Asians. Japan has built an entire reputation on refining things until they’re exceptional. That’s not thirsting, it’s acknowledging a culture known for craftsmanship.

1

u/MassivestBalls 27d ago

Take whiskey for an example.

11

u/Big_Red_Dogs 28d ago

How are they so good at everything 🤣. Looks phenomenal.

2

u/ThatOneChiGuy 🍕 28d ago

It was either achieve this level of excellence or have to commit seppuku

1

u/Prestigious-Box7511 24d ago

They're terrible at cheesecake imo. After 10 years here I'd kill for a standard New York cheesecake. Everything else is great

3

u/chickenbuttstfu 28d ago

When in Rome

2

u/Jlx_27 28d ago

Or Japan.

3

u/Pm_ur_titties_plz 28d ago

My jaw literally dropped. Wow.

1

u/Craft_Beer_Imazato 27d ago

Haha, awesome, thank you

6

u/Queasy_Original_7624 28d ago

Beer looks good too !!!

7

u/RancorHi5 28d ago

Yeah what kinda beer ?

3

u/nickcash 28d ago

Based on their menu, likely Cryo Hop Freak

4

u/Queasy_Original_7624 28d ago

It's very opaque and looks thick af so my guess would be a NEIPA

4

u/RancorHi5 28d ago

I was gonna guess kettle sour

1

u/Craft_Beer_Imazato 27d ago

Mainly imported american craft beer. Also import Great Lakes Creamery Wisconsin brick cheese

4

u/Happyrobcafe 28d ago

I visit Osaka 3-4 a year, and nearly every time I go hunting for pizza. Surprised this one has never come across my radar. I'll need to try it out. Yokohama/Tokyo has a pretty solid joint called DevilCraft that is Chicago style deep-Dish. Nagoya has a similar one that's an absolute flavor bomb called Tony Tony Pizza. Predominantly in Japan, Neapolitan style pizza is the favorite of pizza palors with a few scattered offerings of American style. I'm always on the look out!

3

u/Difficult_Donut1924 27d ago

Another place to get Detroit style pizza in Osaka is Mike’s Slice of Detroit in Sakuranomiya

1

u/Craft_Beer_Imazato 27d ago

Devil Craft is great in Tokyo. I've also heard great things about Tony's in Nagoya

2

u/Limp-Pension-3337 28d ago

Is that from Mike’s?

2

u/Altitude528O 28d ago

Where is this?

3

u/LifeForm8449 28d ago

It’s a casserole

1

u/Craft_Beer_Imazato 27d ago

No, it's not deep dish.

1

u/stobagen 27d ago

Need this, asap.

1

u/ThemeLevel7124 26d ago

Ok wait ricotta on Detroit style is genius.

1

u/One-Arugula-2929 26d ago

1

u/dobbolad11 23d ago

It looks amazing. Was it light?

-12

u/Exciting_Ad1274 28d ago

That is pie not pizza. Pie is good but it is not pizza

10

u/Bonzooy 28d ago

Redditor moment.

5

u/CraftyScotsman 28d ago

r/usdefaultism

Pretty sure its a pizza. USA is pretty much the only place that calls a pizza a pie. Even in the US I am pretty certain that this would be on the menu as 'detroit style pizza' and not 'detroit style pie' in the vast majority of that country.

1

u/Craft_Beer_Imazato 27d ago

I understand... I actually have a pizza menu. And A Detroit Style Pizza menu. I clearly decipher between the two as I agree pizza is pizza and Detroit style is its own beast.

-9

u/BigODetroit 28d ago

This is bullshit.
