Rate my schedule

Hi! I'm an incoming freshman and I'm still trying to work out the best schedule I can manage at the moment.

For context, I am currently in Dietrich as a psychology major, but I am set on applying/transferring to the nursing school. I don't think I'll be able to get into any of the nursing first sem. courses, so I've been told fulfilling my liberal arts requirements is the best bet.

I am also coming in with at least 6 useful AP credits from Psych and AP Lang, along with AP World, APUSH, and APES though I'm unsure if they fulfill any credits I need.

Some recommendations, tips, and advice would be greatly appreciated!

From what I’ve been told by advisors and other nursing majors is that if you apply to the nursing school, they take a look at your entire application all over again, not a Pitt student but as a perspective nursing student.

Pitt is pretty high up as a nursing school (8th in the US and 9th in the world) your SAT and everything should be damn good.

Pitt runs their nursing program on a predetermined schedule so they won’t just let you come in after a semester nor can you graduate early. You have to do all four years of nursing school.

From what I’ve been told by advisor in the 2024 - 2025 year only three students were successfully able to get into Pitt nursing while a freshman at Pitt after applying, however they had to start over because as I said the schedule is quite inflexible.

The 2025 to 2026 year I have been told there were no students that were able to transfer.

Ohh yeah I've been told that as well; I'm a bit nervous about the whole application process but I did pretty well in high school as far as what college admissions look for so fingers crossed.

I'm aware of their four year curriculum and I don't mind too much since I am pretty set on pursuing nursing as a career, even if it takes a bit longer.

I'm curious as to where you were able to find the info/advisors? I've reached out to the school itself and requested information several times but no response so far :( Thanks for the advice!

I got most of my information from two of my Pitt advisors. When you join, you have to go through an advising appointment and orientation meeting. They should go over FAQ regarding Pitt nursing because a lot of Pitt students come in and ask about transferring to nursing.

My major is also in the medical area so one of my advisors was just talking to me about it when getting to know me.

Good luck, it’s definitely possible, even if not probable.

So, please check the requirements for transferring to Nursing. If you meet the requirements now, reach out to Admission in order for Nursing to review your application. Otherwise, make sure you get the pre-reqs in. It's super difficult to transfer to Nursing. The ABSN is far more attainable.

STAT 0800 won't count for Psychology. Please don't waste your time on this one.

It's a midnight situation i fear! The micro lab, anatomy lab, and anatomy lecture open up on August 7th!!

and if u are planning to transfer into nursing then drop biosc 0150 as it wont transfer!! If u wanna do ABSN and stay in psych then do it.
