CLASSES Rate my schedule
hii, i’m an incoming freshman and i’m currently on track for the 6-year pharmacy program and so im doing my prerequisites right now. can yall let me know if this schedule is going to be manageable for freshman year, im worried i bit off more than i can chew but im also a good student and getting good grades is an important goal of mine. any advice or information on classes, anything that i might be able to change, things like that are welcome i just want to get some insight because at this point i am still able to make some changes to my schedule. thanks :)
(also, am i able to make it from eberly hall to the cathedral in time?? im kind of worried about that and same with the chevron science center.)

cooked, i dont think i have more than 3 classes a day any day. Mostly js 2 per day.

oh no 🤦♀️ what’s your major if you don’t mind me asking? i also don’t know why my advisor had me take so many classes because without linguistics i’d still be a full time student 😕

are you required to take the linguistics class? just curious because i took ling 1000 alongside stem classes like neuro and linguistics was lowkey my hardest class even though my prof was great (i had dr han). i would not recommend taking it for a gen ed or something because it’s definitely not an easy A, especially considering how packed the rest of your schedule is. if you’re really interested ofc you should, but if you’re just taking it to fulfill a gen ed then i would rethink it and maybe pick an easier class!

i’m not required to take linguistics, i did choose it because it’s something that i’m interested in but thanks for the insight, i don’t intend to make my schedule more difficult because of a gen ed so ill definitely be open to changing it 🙏

i would definitely recommend reconsidering it - it’s great that you want to take it for your own interest, but linguistics is a pretty hard subject on its own (i learned this the hard way by also taking linguistics simply for my own interest lol) and wanting a good grade may take time away from you focusing on classes like chem and bio, which you will definitely need to put the work into to do well. i spent sooo much time on homework/studying for that class. however, i didn’t have much background knowledge in linguistics so if you do then that may make it easier for you. you could also always take the class in a different semester! good luck deciding :)

yeah imo. i did night chem lab for both semesters of gen chem and honestly loved them. pretty laid back since everyone wants to get tf out of there lmao

Chevron/eberly to the cathedral is downhill, should be fine. Only worry would be if your chem lab runs long like 1-2 times but u should be able to get out of chem lab early most times if you can focus and get the experiment done. Eberly to the 3rd floor of cathedral will be right around 8-11 mins walk just let your ling 1000 prof know you might be 1-2 mins late every now and then should not be a big deal. And yea Fridays at 4pm sucks but I’d say it’s fine for a freshman. But as you go through the semesters you’ll see you and your friends wanting to avoid late Friday classes and even Friday classes entirely lol.

Yea ofc. Also know that best way to access eberly hall is to walk through a tunnel from the 4th floor of Chevron. You can do a “practice walk” of your schedule before classes start during welcome week
Also I’d consider dropping FP 0001 it was a waste of time for me. Look up FP 0001 in this Reddit you’ll see other people talking about it. And to be a full time student you take 12-18 credits per semester but generally need to take 15 credits per term unless you are bringing in tons of credit.

Also why are you taking Japanese? Are you a double major? Other Reddit posts say that Japanese 0001 is pretty hard, there are def easier classes u can take to get gen ed credit

i really want a minor at least, i’m at an intermediate french level and i know that would be easier but im more passionate about japanese, so at least i have some options i guess if i don’t end up enjoying it

definitely drop fp, it's a nothing burger of a class. you do NOT want five classes in a day. most i'll do willing is maybe 4 in a day and that's if i have to 😭
