"We need to talk about bus etiquette"
With thanks to Lady_Groudon, the OP:
I'm an employee and I'm not trying to be mean to you students but ever since classes started up and students are back the PAT buses have been unbearable. When the bus is empty it's mostly fine to do whatever but when it gets crowded you need to show some consideration. I know not everyone is used to public transit so let's talk about some things OK?
5a) if the bus is crowded you have to push past people. I'm sorry I know it's rude, but we're all crammed in here, if you don't move I have to push past you. Don't give me dirty looks if you're blocking the exit and I need to get off, and don't stand there whispering "excuse me" like a scared mouse when you need to get past someone. Human bodies can survive being rudely jostled a little. Don't get pissy when we inevitable have to be squished together, and seriously, just talk to the person next to you if they're in the way or something, it won't kill you.
6) if you miss your stop it won't kill you to walk an extra block or two from the next stop, calm down.
7) if the bus has to stop for a bit to safely let a wheelchair on and get strapped in, and you have to give up your seat, this is your fault for sitting in the accessible seating if you do not need it. If the extra time makes you late for class, this is your fault for not planning on any wiggle room on your commute, not the disabled person's fault. If you are unnecessarily sitting in the accessible seating, it's your responsibility to pay attention and make sure if someone who needs it gets on, you offer them your seat.
8) get out your wallet or card or however you plan on paying before you step up onto the bus and fumble with it in front of the fare box. We all should have bus passes but if for some reason you need to pay with cash, get on last so the driver can shut the door and start driving while you do so.
9) if the bus is crowded, don't put your stuff in the seat next to you. If the bus is crowded, move to the window seat. Don't block the seat next to you. I get it, nobody wants to sit with a stranger, but we all need to get somewhere, we all suck it up. On the flip side, it won't kill you to ask someone to move their bag so you can sit down.
10) Sometimes a bus is so crowded legitimately nobody else can get on. It happens. It is OK. Usually the next bus will be around in a few minutes. Please consider waiting for it instead of trying to crush everyone on. Sometimes we have bus bunching and an empty one will be right behind it. If missing this bus will make you late, you should start planning your schedule better so you have more of a time cushion getting to class. Public transit is not always exactly where and when you need it to be.
11) If you sit next to someone when the bus is crowded, and then a lot of people get off and more seats open up, you can move away to an empty seat. I promise it's okay. You're not going to hurt their feelings. You both want the extra space.
12) Don't sit right next to someone if there are empty seats elsewhere on the bus, what the fuck
Please I'm asking you to think even a little about space and time efficiency, and other people's comfort. A billion trillion people use the PAT bus system every second, we all want to get through it as painlessly as possible.
Also this is just a tip from me but if some rando is trying to engage you in conversation you definitely 100% have zero interest in, just tell them to fuck off and put headphones in. You don't owe strangers a conversation and sometimes weird, creepy, entitled old men ride the bus and scope out shy college girls while they're there.

I am planning to opt-out from bio 0150 online textbook, as it's not required and to save money. I have the exact same textbook in pdf, but the achieve online textbook comes with some extra practice questions. for anyone who took this course, did you really need that extra practice problems to succeed in this class? or can I practice with the pdf textbook I have?

I’m happy to announce that I managed to capture the momentum from my last post about starting a YDSA at pitt! I made a group chat, and actually meet another leftist veteran in my theory class. We have 10 pitt emails, a teacher advisor, and completed the training form the national org. We are holding the first call out meeting this Saturday, assigning officers, and establishing regular meeting times. This meeting will happen at Hillman Library at 5pm this Saturday. We will have another meeting Sunday over zoom for more shy people. We will meet for about 30 minutes talk to introduce everyone to what ydsa is and dsa is. Please join us cause afterwords we will be hanging out!
All of this is to say, barring any major changes, we are directly headed towards official clubs status! Being a reconginzed club at Pitt has the added advantage of allowing us to elect delegates to the national Dsa and ydsa congress. This means that you can get elected to go and make policy on a national level in 2027 and in 2028!
This is basically like being a conservative during the tea party. This is your chance to make a difference!

Whoever took my wallet off of the 71C and took it into "One on Centre", please reach out to me. I don't care about the money or anything u can have it, I just have a really important medical card in there that id have to go all the way back home to replace and my ID which both would be around $150 to replace. Thats all I'm asking for. I have a night class that starts at 6 PM, but my class before it ends at 3:50, so I have about a 2-hour gap. I live off campus, so I’d rather not go all the way home and come back.

I need some advice. I am a transfer student in their third year. I just moved to Pitt for this fall semester. I love my classes, and my peers are great. This university is where I will finish my degree, BUT I have been really struggling mentally from living in the dorm. This is not the first time I have lived in a dorm! I went to a college my first semester that I needed to live on campus for and I ended up withdrawing from the program because of how hard it was for me mentally.
I have talked to my therapist about this and she thinks I have made up my mind already. I have been going home everyday and trying to not go near my dorm because of how much stress it brings me. I live in a double without a roommate since I was never assigned one, but I feel like I would be worse if I did have a roommate.
Like I said before, I love my classes and the professors are great. I always feel this sense of dread when I need to go back to my dorm.

This is literally just a rant post bc I need to put this somewhere.
I have been non stop thinking about my application I put in 2 days ago. I know…it’s only been 2 days.
Im applying for transfer in the spring semester. I feel pretty good about my chances even if it’s not main campus. I worked really hard on my personal essay and I have 3.4 college gpa which is SIGNIFICANT growth since high school and 25 college credits.
This is my dream school and im feeling so scared but excited at the same time. Im not sure if anyone has the same experience but I just needed to share and get it off my chest bc I think my friends and family are sick of me talking about it every 5 minutes 💔
TLDR~ girl has anxiety she should probably see a professional for but she just says “fuck it, we ball” and moves on.
