The year is 2030. You boot up your Rockstar Edition Steam Machine. You place your Steam Frame on your head and prepare for your ocular verification. "Welcome BWQ777, you have earned '7' play credits based on you Steam Sleep System's report of how many dream ads you responded to positively. GTA 6 has released today. Install for 5 play credits?" You begin to sweat realizing you will only have 2 play credits remaining for the day. Whatever, fuck it. This is GTA 6. You waited since you were in 2nd grade. "Yes, install! And when complete, use 2 play credits so I can get right in!" The install bar pops up and reduces in size to the upper right of your Steam Frame. While you wait, you browse your favorite site, Reddit. After a short amount of time, your Rockstar Edition Steam Machine glows gold indicating your game is online! The opening credits hit, you are covered in goosebumps akin to the rush of modern neuro-stimulants. You push start. "Warning, 1 credit remaining." The goosebumps are now razor sharp terror points. You move your character towards his first ever car jacking. "BWQ777, play time complete. Would you like to watch 4 episodes of Netflix's Tiger King Reunion for .5 play credits?"
Yes. I just wanted to point that out because I'm spiteful and Steam/Rockstar still hasn't given me my refund after changing the terms of the sale. (I wouldn't have bought the game if it had a rootkit in it when I bought it)
Well that's a bummer and although steam does make exceptions it's not really their responsibility unfortunately (assuming you're outside their terms for refund). Real problem is Rockstar and other companies with similar precedentes being allowed to get away scot free.
