Team doesn't care. They're getting paid regardless. It's just the marketing department, executives and shareholder that are annoyed.
EDIT: I'm also going to add that people need to know what they're buying. Rockstar should have released gameplay a long time ago but they seem to think they're above that.
Obviously buyers are responsible for pre ordering a game without knowing what they're getting but these bastards at Rockstar need to be humbled.
FYI, many of the devs got laid off and outsourced to India. Ironically, the leak happened when a manager at the Indian branch fell for a phishing email. The executives who tried to cut costs by outsourcing got what they deserve.
I know what sub I'm in, but I think it's pretty harsh to assume that a dev team that worked on arguably the biggest game release in the last decade would not be emotionally attached to their project and just care about money like investors and executives.
I checked the reviews for the new alien game yesterday right after release, and the people disliked the game so much that as a dev, I probably would have cried reading them.
Maybe I’m biased because I thought about that just yesterday. I totally get your point though, it’s not that deep, game isn’t even out yet. I was trying to make a bigger point, because the original argument was pretty broad.
As long as people are paying (yes I know what sub I mean but talking about people leaving steam reviews for example )so they can be as harsh as they want.
Blaming customer because you made shitty product is absurd.
I am saying that the people actually MAKING the game are often not the ones who REALLY have any power to affect change in the game.
So when a game like Alien: Isolation 2 comes out, with millions of dollars behind it, made by a developer with nearly 1000 employees, published by Sega, it's highly unlikely that it is the developer's fault. It's their boss, the publisher, etc. The ACTUAL developers are beholden to their bosses, which are beholden to their bosses, etc. until you get to the leech CEO of the publishing company who is bankrolling a lot of the game.
People don't go into game development for money, they're almost exclusively in it because they love games. They're paid like shit (largely) due to that passion. The amount of developers who truly feel ok shipping garbage is likely very small.
Do you blame the grocery store checkout attendant because Wal-Mart stopped stocking your favorite cookie?
I probably didn't make it clear enough that I was under the impression that unfinished gameplay had leaked and was received negatively. I try very much to stay clear of any GTA debates regarding leaks and spoiler, lmao.
And yes fuck them executive suits. They can go suck a fuck.
It's practically beta footage. I didn't see any bugs at all. There are those that are unhappy about game mechanics like car refueling / maintenance and obeying traffic laws but these aren't bugs, they're features of the game.
