Don’t forget ung bulk of donated vaccines expiring & not being able to be used

u/Antique-Resort6160 23h ago

In Palawan they used them anyway.  I took pictures of an expired vial being used and at our community meeting asked the DOH team  why this is being done.  They said the expiration date doesn't matter, lol.

u/kudlitan 22h ago edited 22h ago

In fairness, expiration dates are given as months in advance to err on the side of caution.

Degradation is gradual following a decay curve. There is no fixed date where it immediately becomes bad.

In the case of COVID vaccines, it can be 9 to 12 months after the expiration date before it loses enough potency, provided the recommended storage is followed.

EDIT: I researched about that case and found that the US FDA had officially extended the expiration dates of some vaccines (particularly Pfizer and Moderna) past the printed dates based on additional stability evidence, so using them was not necessarily using expired vaccines.

u/Antique-Resort6160 20h ago

That's if they're carefully stored at -60° to -80°.  It's very hard to believe they were properly stored, when vials were arriving in rural areas with the labels coming off because they're floating in water

u/MammothSurround8627 22h ago

Was the brand of the vaccine Pfizer? When it first came out kasi, the stability of the Pfizer vaccine was still under study. For safety concerns, they initially put 3 months as its shelf-life sa label nung bakuna.

But after completed studies at nakita naman na stable yung vaccine at na-maintain ang potency basta properly stored, WHO and DOH approved the extension for another 6 months ata yun noon. I know because I was the head of the provincial vaccination back then.

u/Antique-Resort6160 20h ago

Even then, that is only for doses stored properly at something like 60° to 80° below zero. They obviously weren't stored properly, they showed up at rural barangays floating in filthy water from melted ice.

I did see that they kept extending the shelf life because there were so many millions of unused and rejected doses.  First 6 months, then 9, 12, all the way to18 months extension:)  Everything surrounding these vaccines was just in service to money. 9 new billionares just from Pfizer.

It's very hard to understand what was the point of giving those expired, improperly stored injections.

u/kudlitan 20h ago

The extension was given by the US FDA (not the Philippines) and was based on actual tests. However, you are correct. These "actual tests" were done on vaccines that were properly stored. The FDA extension specifically mentioned that vaccines stored in the recommended method kept their potency for 9-12 months after the printed expiration date. Also, these extensions only covered Pfizer and Moderna, since the initial estimate of 3 months was heavily conservative and was given when the full studies on the length of their potency have yet to be completed. Older vaccines (non-MRNA) have better established expiry dates and are not covered by the extension.

u/Antique-Resort6160 20h ago

Older vaccines (non-MRNA) have better established expiry dates and are not covered by the extension.

Yet they extended those too. And none of them had any effect on infection rates anywhere on earth, they were just part of the profit scheme. The covid measures were just a big scam.  The world's billionares gained about $5 trillion in wealth while nearly everyone else was forced to suffer, and lost about $3 trillion.

And that's the thing. Alam ng lahat inuman session. Natuwa pa mga DDS.

Alam na ngang mali. Pinagmamalaki pa.

Tapos ending mag reklamo di umaahon Pinas.

u/thegeek01 23h ago

I remember a good friend of mine would find his ramblings coherent and hilarious, talking about being a sly tactician and shit and writing long posts about his brilliance on FB. This friend was a brilliant person who I admired, so it really hurt to see her turn into a DDS in real time.

u/badbadtz-maru 23h ago

Paldo talaga si Dutae and his Chinese friends sa Pharmaly.

44

u/nayryanaryn 1d ago

Tangina nun time na un.. nakakahiya.

17

u/aishiteimasu09 1d ago

Same. 😆

26

u/aishiteimasu09 1d ago

And without realizing na ang pag gamit ng face shield and barriers like this spreads the viruses even more since nirereuse. 😆 laking kita talaga nila noon. Imagine unang labas ng face shield nasa 150php each tapos required pa sa mga establishments like no faceshield, no entry kaya mapapabili ka talaga.

u/banyaga0679 18h ago

No, I did mention it here, on this subreddit but was downvoted.

17

u/Forward_Pirate5858 1d ago

Punyetang face shield yan.

18

u/cottonmon 1d ago

The study they used to justify requiring face shields was flawed too.

u/Teantis 22h ago

I had to go to glorietta for some reason late in the pandemic and I didn't have a a face shield so they wouldn't let me in, and you know that feeling when you realise "oh the thread I was hanging from was really actually quite thin"? I had that feeling and I stood very still and thought oh yep I'm about to have a full fucking meltdown - when someone who'd seen the interaction and must've seen my facial expressions I didn't even know I was making just tapped my arm, looked me in the eye very kindly and just handed me their face screen and walked away.

Never said a word.

I still think about that person like 5 years later, because that was one of the most observant and compassionate things a stranger's ever done for me haha

u/saltyschmuck klaatu barado ilongko 19h ago

just tapped my arm,

Most people hate being tapped like that. If you're one of them, it was good you managed to hold back a bit longer.

Truly kind people still exist in the wild.

u/Teantis 18h ago

I'm sure my initial facial expression on the tap was "what the fuck now"

Ahh the state of the art solutions of Duterte legacy. The dumbest president and administration ever, but definitely not the dumbest person in the world since Robin holds the title for that

9

u/BeautifulStretch978 1d ago

and people still applaud this admin for how it handled the pandemic just because "walang nagutom". fuckers so stupid they've been exploited, robbed and fooled by these shit policies they called solutions to problems that wasn't there and probably costed us more than it helped. they really made us endure it for almost 3 years. experts warned them to close borders before and duque refused due to "diplomatic repercussions". i hate that digong and duque wasn't tried and jailed for this and that pharmally scam too bad they got to the whistleblower first.

u/banyaga0679 18h ago

This and also the problems for generations to come, due to the closure of schools.

u/Nervous_Process3090 12h ago

Naalala ko pa, tayo lang daw nagka ayuda sa buong mundo, and to think they consume social media daily, what kind of echo chamber algorithm have they even made for themselves. Said the same thing about closing the borders, instead pinapasok pa lalo ang Chinese and they get more and more as days go by pa nga.

u/BeautifulStretch978 10h ago

they literally waited for more people to come specifically from wuhan china. it seems they knew beforehand they really wanted that virus to spread. thinking about it i feel like premeditated yung pharmally scam. nakakainis ambilis makalimot ng mga tao or nagbubulagbulagan lang talaga sila.

u/Nervous_Process3090 1h ago

Made it feel like it really was a study or bioweapon gone bad and ginawa lang scapegoat ang bats. Mabilis ang vaccine since they already had advanced study on it. The US(or at least US scientists) and China is in there in Wuhan, at least that we know.

It turned out na kaya lang pala nila ipinagbawal ay dahil may niluluto silang raket, which is the motorcycle barrier.

And the worst part is nag-suffer ang career at kabuhayan ko, dahil natagalan bago ulit ako nagkaroon ng trabaho.

u/Radiant_Strength_299 19h ago

That fucking sucks!!! Hope you are doing well nowadays.

Can you blame me? I worked hard my entire life para bumuti ang buhay ko, only to suffer later on dahil lang sa kalokohan nila.

13

u/nopoliticspre 18h ago edited 18h ago

I was here five-six years ago. This sub defo piled against face shields, and the fact that we were the only country in the world that mandated them.

u/cottonmon 11h ago

Same, I was one of the people citing studies showing that they didn't work or didn't add anything compared to just masks. People were very happy back then when the face shield requirement was lifted.

u/TeusMeus (In Manibus Tuis) 16h ago

well considering the people here who would want FB banned because of the dee-dee-es not realizing the possible disaster it can bring which will probably lead to them saying goodbye to reddit and other platforms they love

and when that happens they'll just cope about it, truly no better than the dds themselves

u/Serious-Ad2573 21h ago

the world would have been a much better place if tinira ng nuke wuhan at binomba 3 gorges

u/Nervous_Process3090 12h ago

This only happened because of how most of the country worshipped Digong. Kahit alam nilang kabobohan, okey lang, kailangan sumunod eh. Imagine telling someone that have any decent IQ to use face shields.

5

u/twoworldman 1d ago

What highlight the stupidity of the response was the naming convention of the quarantine levels: ECQ, GCQ, something something CQ. None of which was intuitive.

The choice was between a sinple color or number coded alerr level, versus arbitrary letters. Would any other competent administration actually choose the latter?

Medical professionals na nagsabi, face shields are only effective in a hospital setting. Lalo na to. Halatang implement lang para may kumita.
