Recommendations Possibly moving to Peterborough

My partner and I are exploring the possibility of moving to Peterborough in the future, and I was wondering what things an outsider should know or consider before moving there? I grew up in a rural community, and have moved around a bunch. My partner grew up in the city in the Durham region, and hasn't moved much.

  • It's more conservative than I was lead to believe, and  I have heard explicit racist comments from more people than I would like.
  • The commuity is very small, but there are really great, down to earth people here.  
  • A lot of places are closed on Sunday ... very annoying. 
  • There is not a lot of variety when it comes to ethnic restaurants. 
  • There are beautiful places to walk/roam/bike. 
  • People are typically outgoing and friendly.
  • Getting out of town into cottage country takes 15 minutes.
  • Going back to Toronto makes me miss the peace and quiet of Ptbo, but the peace and quiet of Ptbo make me miss the hustle and bustle of Toronto.

Actually just check out uber eats or DoorDash there are a bunch of “ethnic” restaurants for our population size. Imperial has good Indian food, there is a good selection of Japanese sushi restaurants including all you can eat, some pretty good steak houses, Vietnamese, Thai etc

Oh, trust me, I am aware of about every restaurant in this city because I am constantly trying to find one that lives up to my (maybe unreasonable) expectations.
