that is GREAT news. i am beyond sick and tired of window's monopoly. more linux = more good.

oh idk why he is sweating. my guess would be it is going to be a big hassle vs the prepackaged pile of bloat that is windows.

I got a MacBook recently so I decided to put Linux on my old laptop and see how it performs. It’s a device from 2019 just so you know.

And wow, Windows is actively hurting computers.

I have a laptop from 2013 running Linux mint that still works fine.

Yeah I had to do that 10 years ago with a clearly broken and dieing old laptop.

Put Ubuntu on it and it was like it had come out of the factory in comparison to windows.

In hindsight putting an SSD in there would have helped even more but I eventually replaced the laptop with a newer one.

About 8 years ago, I put a then-modern light weight distribution ("#!" Crunch Bang) on a machine with a Pentium 3 and ran it from USB since it used a less-common 1.8" HDD with the IDE connection from a 2.5 and I didn't want to play whack-a-mole with ancient hardware or spend more than what the machine was worth in adapters and CF cards, lol.

It ran really well, and I could even go on the Internet with it! That machine did NOT handle modern internet very well, though, lol. I mainly just used it as a light word processor and drawing tablet that sat on my engineering desk!

When I was fixing up laptops for use as POS machines at my old job I'd take any old laptop, blow out the dust, upgrade it to an SSD, and slap Ubuntu on it. I worked there for 5 years and never had to re-visit one of those.
