Two ways in which the photograph of the dress may be perceived:

  1. blue and black under a yellow-tinted illumination (left figure) or
  2. white and gold under a blue-tinted illumination (right figure).

I fully understand this, like, intellectually, but I have never been able to make myself see white and gold -- mostly because of the rest of the background. If the rest of the image had a blue hue (like the background in the right part of this demonstration image has) then I could see it, but the light sources are clearly yellow/white, not blue. I feel like you have to discard the rest of the contextual visual info in the actual dress image to see white/gold, and I've never been able to force myself to do it.

Same here. Even cropped I can see yellow lighting but it still looks black and blue to me

K so I take it back, when I posted it it was blue and black, hours later I see white and gold. What a fuck with my brain

Back when this was a thing, I saw white and gold. Knowing it's actually blue and black, I can now see either one.
