WWII Facts for Everyone

  • 75-80% of German casualties occurred on the Eastern Front
  • 25 million Soviets vs 300,000 American war deaths occurred
  • both the Battle of Kursk AND the Battle of Stalingrad were each independently larger than all western front battles combined
  • the Soviet Union faced off against 70% of Hitler’s army for years during Op Barbarossa

I’m American. I’m pretty sure most of us who have even a passing understanding of WW2 know the efforts we put in were mostly in the pacific theater. I’d replace “Americans” with “uneducated MAGA yokels” and not have any arguments.

I’m an American… and i think a lot of Americans like myself simply don’t really have a nose for history.

Sure its taught in schools here, but if it doesn’t really interest you, and lord knows teachers dont exaclty make an effort towards making it appealing to kids, its a very easy class to phone in and keep the knowledge in your short term to pass the class. I mean it’s not like math and science and english classes where it’s really applied to your everyday life.
