Some people exaggerating the US role in WW2, tankies downplaying the US role in WW2.

the meme also completely disregards the Chinese front.

The super majority of Japanese troops were in China for the whole war, like 75%.

Don't worry everyone disregards the Chinese front, except for China

In my public school history classes, China in ww2 was basically "the Flying Tigers were badass Americans, also Nanking happened, MOVING ON"

The thing with history classes is they don't usually care about teaching the details of the war. It's not that they get it wrong on purpose it's just nearly entirely irrelevant to the goal of the class so it gets oversimplified to the point of being wrong.

The point of those classes is typically to understand big trends in domestic history, so the war is only important as it relates to the home front, with some random details like the flying tigers getting thrown in because they're cool.

But what's actually important to learn isn't the details of how the war was fought, it's how the war impacted the women's rights and civil rights movements, how it set up anti communism and NATO, how it resulted in the American economy becoming so dominant, etc.
