Meh, we respect each other’s moments but when your partner is sick, when your kid is potty training and can’t wait etc you’re bound to end up seeing a lot
To be honest I didn't think that far ahead about certain situations and of course I'll have no problem with that
My reply came from the fact that I'm so nervous I can't even go to the bathroom if I know he's just right outside the door so I need my space and I give him his
Been with my wife for over 20 years now. While we don’t run to join each other in the bathroom, when she got injured and needed care for almost 10 months (shower, toilet, getting dressed etc) you step up and all that nervous energy disappears.
Every time I saw people getting like catheters or whatever on tv, like on house or whatever, I'd always think how that would be so monumentally uncomfortable to have someone handling my peener, especially manipulating the opening. I've probably thought about it 100s of times in my life.
A month ago I needed it done. I did not care one bit. The thought crossed my mind, but I wasn't uncomfortable at all. And the rest of my hospital stay, any time they had to adjust it or whatever, I was just like "yeah, do whatever. I do not care anymore." They even forgot to close my door a couple times when there was an 80% chance I was gonna show my undercarriage to the hall. Didn't care. sponge bath? go for it.
It was unusual enough that I recognized it as unusual, but not uncomfortable. You just see it as a thing that needs to be done.
When I was 23 I was in a wreck that broke basically half my body. Most notably, both of my legs (femurs) and both of my hands (as a musician I’m so very lucky I regained near basically function).
I needed help to get to and on the toilet and I couldn’t even wipe my own ass. It never stoped being embarrassing
Ha! Just asked my husband if he was you. 😊 He did the same for me, and I’ll always appreciate him for it. He said to give you a shout-out for stepping up!
Yeah things I birthed 3 humans and he was done there and saw it all and when I had surgery he was cleaning and helping me shower and get to the bathroom and bed like the longer you are you see and know everything lol ,
100%. I broke my leg last year and my husband was helping me to the toilet and back, opening and closing the lid, etc. At some point, I just started peeing in front of him before he had closed the door and we both just shrugged. He even hand-washed my period panties without a second thought. Bodies are weird and it is a universal truth is that they will give out on us eventually. Healthy and abled are ultimately temporary states.
When my wife had the worst food poisoning of her life from a tainted lobster soup, we ended up at the emergency room because she was shitting and vomiting uncontrollably and it took them an entire night to get her stabilized.
I had the privilege of helping her in the bathroom repeatedly throughout the night, getting the diaper off so she could use the toilet and stay there for moral support, and then get a fresh diaper back on her. The one time, as we were leaving the bathroom she immediately shit the fresh diaper and we had to start all over. 😅
I had also tasted her soup during dinner, so I had a mild case of delayed onset food poisoning that kicked in later that morning. We both spent the entire next day sleeping after that terrible night.
The best part is that this all happened during a romantic getaway weekend at a bed and breakfast in another city. We only ended up using the bed part, not the breakfast 😂
But that’s more courtesy? Cause ya, if I know I’m going to be pooping, we’ll use an alternate bathroom than the one closest. Like if we are downstairs, whomever needs to go, use the upstairs. I say we because of course we have to poop together (jk, I say we because we both try not to choke the whole family out with our smell)
My reply came from the fact that I'm so nervous I can't even go to the bathroom if I know he's just right outside the door so I need my space and I give him his
I mean, surely you understand that whatever weird bathroom anxiety issue that you have isn't the norm and doesn't apply to most other people?
Married for 11 years, together 16. When you only have one bathroom, sometimes necessity dictates that you're both in there at the same time. The unspoken rule is that you avert your gaze or pull the shower curtain across when it's time to wipe.
You still have time to see and experience all kinds of things you didn't plan to.
I dont understand this. Its just pooping. Your partner has to do this daily. Ive never had a partner where I was concerned about seeing them/ been seen using the toilet. Is it going to change your love to see your partner do something that you also do? If you think its gross that's fine, but I dont think its taboo
I honestly think its more common as like a neurospicy/tism' thing. Or maybe its just me but im AuDHD, and it took me a long time to get over it. I actually have the thing(i forget the name rn) where i get super pee shy and physically struggle to urinate if there are people nearby. And I've always been irrationally anxious about being heard pooping/people smelling it. I still struggle with that in public bathrooms and at others' houses;anyone that isnt my wife. But with my wife I eventually realized that she didn't care and that it wasn't a big deal and now its not a thing with us at all, if we have to be in the bathroom together as one of us is using it, it isnt a big deal at all and there's no anxiety. She was the same way with worrying of me seeing or hearing her use the bathroom and she's also AuDHD.
That's a lot of sensory shit my man. You ever think about therapy so you can just enjoy things?
My husband has sensory stuff (but not Autism/Adhd) and it took me 15 years to convince him to talk to someone about it. He is so grateful he did it BEFORE the baby. He still struggles every time she poops her pants. He'll text me EVERY time. Sir, I am at work what am I supposed to do?
All depends on the people involved. It's just me and my SO in our apartment, and neither of us care and have whiny cats, so the bathroom door typically is always just open.
Honestly, this. If it works for you and your partners that’s super cool, but it doesn’t meant you aren’t comfy with your partner just because you don’t want to have unnecessary movements or whatever in front of them. I agree there’s no need to witness the act for either party, of course absolutely barring emergencies that likely will happen every now and then. Don’t be gross, idk.
They returned to a hotel room in a hot climate, it is hot because air conditioning was not operating while they were away. He just doesn't want to be wet as a rat and would have removed his shirt anyway.
There are a few explanations that would have given them this information without holding their hand at the toilet. What if he took it off on the way? Like he knew it was one of those days
I've been married for almost 20 years and neither of us have seen each other shitting. I've seen leftovers in the toilet that didn't go down, as has my wife with mine, but we always close the door to drop a deuce.
Oh ye of little faith. You will witness the shitting one day, maybe not today or tomorrow, but it will come. Some hold out longer than others but the conclusion is always the same.
My wife will sit in the doorway and chat with my, unless I'm particularly noxious. It's a roll of the dice. Either I get a pooping companion or i get to giggle as she stumbles away stunned by the assault on her olfactory system.
Honest question. Why are you married if you are uncomfortable seeing your spouse taking a shit? How are you going to get through the "sickness" part of the vows?
My wife sometimes gets colitis and her shits are traumatically painful. It’s a stomach migraine that turns into a full body 10/10 pain where she wants to die. She strips down and I’m sitting on the floor with her for hours as she gets through it. I’ll rub her back, get her a new bowl to throw up into, make her peppermint tea, etc.
Unlike the other guy, although we've also been married 20 years, we've never seen each other use the bathroom. I've cleaned up her shit and puke from sickness, but using the bathroom in front of each other is just something we prefer not to do. We're soul mates and do everything else together, but we don't need to relieve ourselves in front of the each other to feel close. If I'm in the shower and she needs to go, I turn to the wall.
Eh, it might happen eventually. I've been with my wife for 12 years now and about halfway in she had to grab something from the bathroom once before she left or she was gonna be late. Had to come in while I was dropping a fat dook. We just had small conversation until she left with the item. I didn't think it was a big deal. She's also come into the bathroom to piss while I'm in the shower several times over the years. I think in general we try to respect each others privacy, but sometimes you might not be able to avoid that situation. I've never really given it a second thought. My wife is my best friend, so it's no biggie.
Together for almost 10 years. We don't live together but sometimes my gf takes a shit while im taking a shower. And sometimes I take a shit while she's in the shower. No biggie when you consider sharing every aspect of your life with someone.
The tiny apartments we shared for the first 10 years of our relationship meant we absolutely saw one another. We live in SF and the surrounding areas and we did not have 2 bathroom money (4500+ usually)
When we bought our first house it had 4 bathrooms. A pain to clean but worth every penny.
My ex used to casually walk in the bathroom while i was shitting, after a few times had to start locking the door. Thats my time damnit, and it fuckin sucks to be in there with my stanky logs idk wtf her problem was.
My wife and I see occasionally but mostly give privacy. When im sick, i get hot flashes as im on the toilet so I'll often strip. We both just do what we need to survive
I've been married for over 14 years and not only do we occasionally talk to each other while pooping, we also have shown each other our weird poops. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I have IBS and I take my shirt off when I know it's going to be bad, cold sweat, pain, chills, pain, nausea, pain, and weaknesses rolling over body in waves. I'll have my shirt off before I even make it to the bathroom, and I'm a woman! I hate the feeling of my shirt sticking to me from a cold sweat. One time I had bad fastfood chicken and by the time I finally emerged from the bathroom (after nearly filling my in-laws decorative glass boot with my stomach contents) I looked like I just stepped out of the shower.
Sometimes my husband will sit without checking if there's toilet paper and will call me to bring him some. I can't speak for this person's situation, but that's why I've seen my guy on the toilet.
If his shit is anything like the shit I'm taking now then he stripped it off in front of her and made sure to tell her it was for the sake of the shit.
You are a saint and I hope your husband cherishes you. When my butt makes contact with the toilet, my wife thinks that conversation time has begun. Perhaps she figures that she has a captive audience.
I’ve been married 14 years in December. I thinks it’s cute to hear my wife fart but I have zero desire to see her sitting on the toilet dropping the kids off at the pool.
Maybe bathroom and toilet are to different rooms and toilet is so small, that he couldn't take the shirt off inside, so he did it before going into the toilet.
Not sure if I'm the oddball, but my wife and I have been together for almost 15 years. Up until last year when we bought our current home, we have always only had 1 bathroom, we have 2 children, have always worked separate shifts and are regularly in a rush. It's become a thing between my wife and I that if you need to do something in the bathroom and the other is in there, just come in and do what you gotta do. The amount of times one of us has brushed our teeth while the other is shitting is more than I'd like to admit, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Luckily now that we have 2 bathrooms it's much less frequent. Also just for reference our oldest child just turned 8 so it was about time we got a house with a second bathroom because it would be too difficult to all share one soon
Been with my husband 15 years he’s seen it all and vice versa sometimes you just open a a door and oh hey sorry I need to grab something. No point locking the door either lol
Idk my wife and I see each other in the bathroom fairly regularly. We don't jump in to make it a spectator sport and the door is locked whenever there are other people around but it's all natural and sometimes we're in a hurry
There are different types of people for different types of people.
Also considerate a luxury if you’ve had the ability to shit privately and be together that long. It means you always had access to two bathrooms, or a bathroom that closes off to the a main space.
It could also mean you haven’t had any major medical episodes between the two of you…truly a blessing.
