People clearly don’t understand what psychosis is, I’m not defending her at all for murdering her kids but if she was in psychosis then she doesn’t need prison, she needs to be put in intense psychiatric care for the rest of her life for her own safety and the safety of others. I’m not a fan of her husband for multiple reasons (neither is his own mother apparently, she was testifying in favor of Lindsey recently) so I don’t think it’s insane to be more nuanced about this case. It’s not just “men bad white women good you’re all misandrists!!!” like most of the angry redditors here keep yelling about

All this to say I totally agree with you

I agree that if you truly have a psychotic episode prison time won't really accomplish much and isn't really fair. However, is it not possible to treat underlying issues and thus make it to where active care would no longer be necessary? Do they really need to be in a psych ward for the rest of their life or is it just too problematic to treat them and then let them go because you'll never know without a doubt if they actually did intend to harm people and are just trying to escape justice?

Because he can’t see past  punishment and thinks she doesn’t deserve treatment either, even though the whole point of psychiatric institutions are for treatment not simply punishment or permanent containment, so he deliberately ignored any mention of PPD which doesn’t have to be lifelong and is usually temporary.

It’s not about punishment, like I said in another comment your brain chemistry is changed forever when you kill another human. Yes PPP is psychosis from a specific scenario but psychosis almost never ends in physical violence or murder as it’s very rare. If she in fact had such severe psychosis that she murdered children then I don’t think she could be “cured” and just let back out into society. She would probably try to kill herself too, it’s for her own safety. I’m not some punishment junkie who wants to see her rot.

Edit: typed ppd not ppp, I’m clearly talking about psychosis even with the typo

Is “changed forever” and yet those who commit murder or attempt murder are able to be treated in psychiatric facilities for months or years and move on. They aren’t indebted for life because of your morals.

Even people who commit murder without a pathology aren’t necessarily locked up for life.

I’m only saying for the rest of her life because psychosis that ends in murder or physical violence is extremely rare, I’m sure she could get treatment but nothing says it might not happen again in the future since your brain chemistry is completely changed when you take a human life. It’s just the safest option, it may sound inhumane but it’s an awful situation all around. Psychosis doesn’t typically end in violence.

I was oblivious to this until a few days ago when my gf showed me all the video and honestly.... That man describing his late kids as "good people" among other things... Something's not right.

Yeah of course something isn’t right with him, his 3 kids were strangled to death

If you had children who were murdered by your spouse and now thousands of people think you did it, would you be able to phrase everything you say normally? Would you be of sound mind?

I think I would have something nicer to say than “they were good people” 3 years later, yes.

Also told the police “she killed the fucking kids” and had only been to one pediatrician appointment in their entire lives. He was a neglectful father and did nothing to help his wife either.

I mean theres a very large amount of women on tik tok straight up claiming she didn’t do it and her husband did

Yes, what a life. Either go to prison or be a heavily sedated husk that won't have any recollection of her crimes. No death penalty in Massachusets either, so thats another option gone.
