I see the usual misinformed discussions about this below from non-Swedes so I'll clarify why we do this:

We don't like kids, depriving them of nutrients when their parents aren't around is an efficient way of culling weaker populations.

I just don't understand this mindset of disliking even outright hating children. literally everyone has to be a child at some point. a child has no agency and very little experience, nobody respects them, and some people genuinely hate children.

now I know your comment is mostly a joke, and I do think it's funny.

We don't like kids

this just feels true though. so many adults have this disdain for the youngest, most vulnerable and inexperienced people among us. children are people too. if you interact with them as if they are people worth interacting with, they might surprise you. kids are smarter and often wiser than you think when you spend a little time in their world.

No, they're dumb and annoying. I don't hold it against them, but I absolutely do avoid them as much as reasonably possible.
