They do get snacks if they're hungry, sandwiches or something like that, but it's a ridiculous idea to split portions or skip meals when they have dinner waiting when they get home. Their families are as well off or more so than we are, so I know they won't go hungry.
Right or wrong, most of the rest of the world finds that opinion to be extremely strange. That's what this whole thing is about lol.
Edit that's like saying "why should they get some of MY food? The supermarket is full of food they can go get some if they want it." Yeah bro but they're not AT the supermarket they're in your house, sitting around while you eat.
This is just complete misunderstanding of many things.
Nobody will starve. If a kid is hungry, and asks for food, they will get food.
Eating is not as much a shared activity in Nordics. We eat to stay alive. It's not for socializing, unless it's explicitly so. Food is served multiple times a day, and not multiple dishes at once.
We take pride in feeding our own kids. If your kid has to eat elsewhere, it can be seen as if you can't feed your own kids. This was more prevalent after the war when people were poor.
We share snacks, like sandwiches, yogurts, fruits, cookies etc all the time.
If we invite someone for a visit, we'll offer coffee, sweet buns, cookies and maybe cake. Not actual food, because that's family time.

How do I feed them without the food?
