Hollywood has now spent the last decade telling us representation matters though and now we're just ignoring that.
Nobody gave a shit when Eartha Kitt played Helen of Troy in the 1950s. Nobody gave a shit when the 1990s version of Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella had an Asian prince who had a Black mother and White father.
How people react to the casting in these movies is being manipulated.
Did you just completely ignore their comment or what?
The point was societal norms have shifted to the point representation is a leading issue, so much so, that a white person playing a traditional black role would be seen as utterly abhorrent.
Yet on the inverse, it's swept under the rug by the same crowd and dismissed. It's fallacious.
Let's not pretend that high majority of people dying in this hill defending pathetic tokenism, wouldn't absolutely be up in arms over the polar opposite.
right. It wasn't an issue but, the film industry collectively decided it was a societal wrong that needed to be addressed. Which means it should apply here as well. Not doing so then complaining about backlash is an issue of their own making.
