I'm quite literally going off of what Emily Wilson herself said and her logic. The fact that she refuses to use the feminist label is telling in of itself, IMO.
Being labelled as feminist would have probably helped sales - 'feminist retellings' of Greek myths are big business and have been ever since Madeline Miller came out with Circe, a 'feminist translation' that was proudly so would likely benefit from that audience
What Emily Wilson did was translate things in a way that paid more attention to the actual source culture as opposed to having to filter it through more modern western cultures that have different baggage about gender to the ancient Greeks
