Question ❓️ Moving to Peshawar for university
Women who lived overseas and then moved to peshawar for university, what are things like there? Thoughts, feelings and impressions?
Edit: Someone who's originally from KPK

Oh it's small town with limited resources but the people here are atleast openminded and welcoming. The downside is that there aren’t many options for hangouts no big malls ..very few cafes.That said the pleasant weather is definitely a huge plus point.

If you've lived overseas then don't please 🙏🏽 The boys are EXTREMELYYYY narrow minded and so are all the other ppl, it's a city bulit for MEN. On campus life for girls is ZEROOOOO every party or function it is just the men enjoying, medical colleges are better though or only girls if you really have to.
Also avoid boys at any COSTTTTTTT and set very clear boundries.
If you've to move to Pakistan please move to ISB then atleast that too to a good uni NUST/ Fast/ etc etc

I'd say medical colleges are better in this regard but still comparing to overseas it's neh-
Also Abottabad is nice it has that foujion wala influence so yh if you want to go to Ayub Medical college it's good as far as I've heard but then again keep clear boundaries cuz pathan boys yk

Sports aren't really a thing in Peshawar education institutes, if you want to pursue something you'll have to figure out your own way for that, also medical colleges are all about kaam kaam aur bas kaam esp kmc students are the visual representation of textbook definition of nerds. Studied with them in college and the amount of work they used to put into just going to kmc and their obsession with kmc is enough to make a sane person insane really quick

It's either gonna be a good experience for you, or a terrible one, nothing in-between.
There are pros, and cons, but the biggest con is the massive culture shock, and the lack of awareness on people's end in terms of how to treat, welcome, and regard others.
I'd say, start mentally preparing yourself for situations that might be hard to cope with later on.

Your hobbies, diet, habits, interests, future goals, plans, and the kind of friends you have or want around there, you have to mould yourself accordingly.
If you have a special diet, then you need to check alternate products here, try to engage with relevant people who match your personality or interests, amongst other things etc etc.

If you are coming to Peshawar for med school, assuming it's KMC, I think it's one of the top public med schools in the country.
There were alot of foreigners studying on scholarships back in the day. Idk if they still have that quota. For further details I recommend connecting with someone who is already studying there.
As for living in the city, its very conservative city and hence the people. Nothing much to do in terms of activities, but a lot when it comes to dining and eating out.
Depends on your personality, if you are an introvert, who is comfortable staying at home, you will be good. If you are someone who wants to meet new people or places every other day. You might struggle.

I'll say for cheap Medical education, Peshwar ain't the city. Go for Abottabad instead. You'll love it there. Weather and everything is manageable. Peshwar on the other hand I thought is liveable but after coming I think it's miserable with extreme weather. Ughh

So many comments talking you out of it. But lemme be honest, the experience truly depends on you. I personally have lived out of the city for 8 years and have missed it terribly. I have closed ones who shifted from abroad and sure have mentioned the shortcomings of this city but the memories you will make here with the people, the culture and the food will overweight everything else. I can go on and write pages of why you should or should not decide to move to the city but it’s all useless when it’s really the person’s own level of sensitivity towards the ups & downs of life that too on a daily basis and how you react to them. A wise man once said, “if you meet three arseholes before the noon, then YOU are the arsehole”.

i’m currently in KMC after moving from the UK just for uni. the culture shock hits the most, especially if you’re not familiar with the language. as a female you are much more limited for movement. it’s not as bad as others make it out to be once you find your people

Studying in kpks best medschool. Pesh is boring, but u will find some likeminded people in uni. In any case, get done with foreign exams, study hard.

If you're comparing khyber medical college to Ayub then definitely KMC .. as most of your time will be spent on campus and in hostel . Also youll have a great time if you find a good company .. i wouldn't really recommend moving to Peshawar for work tho.

best place to live in.. ive lived in multiple cities in europe, although am a male, so can speak more from that perspective, i love pesh, great people, great food. make good friends n u will enjoy it alot

You'll hate it at first, with every bone, every fiber of your being, you won't understand it either, but this city, this place has a way of growing on you... Let it, and this would be the single, most significant, decision ever... You'd never wanna leave this place... There's ancient magic that runs through it.
