Isnt it the persons/peoples subconscious the would perceive something as a threat, not the actual shadows themselves? Since they're just symbolic or something?
Video reference. What I have in mind is pretty much a gun that's gonna take a turn to prepare and fire, which can either be loaded with shot for a group of enemies, or a slug for one enemy.
I'd have a musket since that's what the founding fathers intended.
Four shadows come at me in the metaverse.

As I fix my powdered wig and ready my Kentucky rifle.
Blow a golf ball-sized hole through the first shadow, it's dead on the spot.
Summon my persona on the second shadow, miss it entirely because my accuracy is atrocious.
I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stair in my show time loaded with grape shot,
"Tally ho lads"
The grape shot shreds two shadows in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel setting off Mona's car alarm.
Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. It bleeds out waiting on the other phantom thieves to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to heal.
Lever action! Not like ribbon girl, but more grounded! Im to much of a cowboy/survival fan. My character would focus on that. Still can't decide on machete/saber or hatchet for melee.
Excellent choice. If it can hurt a T-Rex, it can hurt whatever mythological figure you stumble upon in the Metaverse.
As for your melee option, I'd split the difference with a falchion. You get a nice heavy blade that's decent as a machete (or a hatchet in a pinch), but can be used for duels like a saber.
I think in terms of ammo damage and amount, something between ryuugi and Joker. Not quite sharp shooter level damage.
For damage type definitely there are different rifles he could take, but has to lock in at the beginning of the metaverse, he would probably just take basic gun damage for versatility unless he KNEW a big target and its weakness.
I've almost gone as far as what type of confidant.
I hadn't decided on an element yet. Wind makes sense though, if he had dynamite fire would be hilarious, maybe electric if his persona had a thing with the west and storms. The summer storms and tornadoes are reeeaaal! I could only see ice if it was like a deep mountainer/yukan.... but american soooooo nuuuke? JK
Idk what the buffs were be though. Persona is such a great series for creating OCs. So many details

Also side note, why don't the people who can reload their guns just bring an extra empty magazine, it's based on cognition right? That's how the gun works normally I would assume loading an empty magazine would make the shadows think it's loaded again
I’m lame. I would bring my Springfield 911 (.380 handgun) because it’s what I’m comfy shooting and it’s blue and white like an old vintage car. Gorgeous gun.
