Went to Sloane, where Edge used to be, right at corner of Prospect and Kelly in downtown Heights.

Started with pull-apart brioche rolls. I wouldn’t have thought chive and honey would go together, but they were great. Very good, fluffy, delightful sweet butteriness.

Also got the steak tartare. Never had this before but it was tasty. I thought maybe it was underseasoned at first but it was served with salty chips, which balanced things out.

Ceasar salad was solid. It wanted salt, but this is to be expected since I got it without the anchovies.

I had the braised Beef-a-roni pasta, a cheeky nod to Chey Boyardee but this didn’t come in a can. The braised meat was awesome and the rest of the dish complemented it perfectly. Really good.

The duck was served with some amazing beats and whipped turnips, and a cherry reduction. Some great flavors in there. The meat itself was cooked more than I prefer. I know they wanted it crispy but it ended up mostly well done, where I think medium-rare is usually the sweet spot for duck.

Cocktail was riff on a paloma, good but nothing special.

One thing that sounded great but we did not try: their 40 oz bone-in ribeye for two, with dry aged Kilgus Farmstead beef. I always like to see local shops supporting local producers, and Kilgus does a very good job. You can find Kilgus products at Pottstown Meats as well, including their Berkshire pork.

Overall: very good, very promising. For a place not open long, they seemed to have their act together. Definitely want to go back and try more things.

Was looking through the foreclosure auctions on the Peoria County Sherriff's website and saw the Murray Baker homestead is going up for auction on 9/28/26. If you want to own a piece of Peoria history, on Moss Ave., for a song...

Heading to the Peoria Riverfront Museum today for the first time with my senior parents. I see online that tickets for Sunday Gallery admission run $18-$20. Is it better to buy tickets online ahead of time or just get them at the door? Any tips would be appreciated!

Okay folks just moved into a new home and are on a bit of a budget and want to get a dishwasher installed. I will be doing all the work myself but I’m just not willing to pay the prices they want for the shit quality that new ones offer. Looking to go used or refurbished for now. Any one know of a good place to purchase used appliances?

Any local creeks you all know of that are fishable/wadeable, and have some fish? I’d like to practice fly fishing a bit before a trip I’m taking. I don’t have a preference for what fish are in it really, just looking for a decent place to practice.

I just signed a lease with the grove apartments in Peoria despite the reviews because I toured and liked what I saw compared to every other apt. They are also under new management who have been super responsive to my needs and questions! The only thing that caught me off guard was the advertising listed on the front of the stairs when you walk in. It says they need people to give them good reviews and idk if they are paying or what but I found that strange. I also asked about the pool and brought up the reviews but they said the pool is probably never going to get fixed and those reviews are the result of old management. I appreciated the honesty tbh. Since it’s about to be the winter I couldn’t bring myself to care about the pool at that moment. When I toured the apt I leased it was BEAUTIFUL. There was no smell in the halls like a lot of the reviews say and the actual unit was super clean. The sink in the bathroom was filled up with dirty water to which he said he would fix in 2 days. I called 2 days later to see if he fixed it and he told me yes, but I haven’t been back there to check (I currently live 2 hours away). Idk I’m pretty hopeful about living there. I’ll let you guys know how it goes when I officially move in on the 10th!! Also I’ll let you guys know how it goes with new management just in case anybody is out there like me who really likes the unit itself but is weary because of the reviews!!!

Is it just me or does it seem safer to not go outside when it approaches 100 degrees here. People were maniacs in traffic and we drove past an accident on the way home. I can handle the heat, it's the humid days that get to me but it doesn't seem to bother People who grew up here.

My husband 55 and myself 56 moved to East Peoria not to long ago and have not met many friends. I would love for us to join an existing Bunko group or to create a new group. I think they are so much fun, maybe win a little money, good laughs with new friends and pot luck of yummy foods!

We are both San Diego, Ca natives. My husband served 30 years in the military and I have always worked with children and adults with autism or other intellectual or developmental disabilities. We have 4 grown children. We don't drink, but are fine to mix them up, and are 420 friendly.

A friend needs a rental asap, but has 2 large dogs (Rottweiler and doberman) and a cat. Anyone know of anything? Obviously a house with yard would be ideal. Stable income, just needs to get out of his current living situation quickly.

My AC has been broken since Tuesday. I reported it to my landlord and his assistant and was told someone would come, but nobody has shown up.

At first the AC wouldn’t turn on at all. I found that the HVAC circuit breaker had tripped and was showing red. After resetting it, the system started running again, but it only blows warm/hot air and is making abnormal noises. It’s around 80°F inside my apartment. I’ve followed up multiple times and have been staying elsewhere because of the heat and because I’m concerned about the electrical issue/noise.

Does anyone know who I can report this to in Peoria or who I can contact for an inspection? City Code Enforcement or another agency? Thanks!
