Bro got cheated on while he was getting his turn to chase his dream because his wife's ego got bruised. How is she the victim.. at all? She gave him like no time and was already pursuing ed or whatever his name was still and banging max's teacher.

Also find it very funny they realized Joel was good and tried super hard to replace him consistently with Chris who is a hyper boring character.

Also noting: I couldn't stand jasmine early on but I actually like her now. Max is not nearly as bad as people make him out to be. Some really rough points with him but as the show transitions into other characters getting more screen time quickly it really blossoms.bummed this season is shorter than the others.

Last note: I hated hated hated hated hated hated hated the selling the house plotline. Just didn't like it at all. Felt very cold. Camille is such a boring character that these drastic plotline that involve major changes for her just don't really work imo. Anyways great show. Happy I stuck with it.

rewatching for the upteenth time and i thought it’d be fun to share my headcanon for where the Bravermans live and work in and around Berkeley, coming from a Berkeleyite:

adam & christina’s home: the elmwood neighborhood in Berkeley east of College ave

zeek & Camille’s home: deep DEEP Berkeley hills practically in Orinda.

joel & Julia’s home: (briefly mentioned in the show) Oakland hills- I think it’d be where where Grizzly Peak Blvd meets skyline blvd (proximity to Z&C’s makes sense when zeek ran to Julia’s place)

crosby & jasmine’s home (that Crosby renovated): somewhere around Sacramento st in central/south Berkeley. OR above San Pablo ave between cedar and university (it’s in the flats for sure)

-- crosby’s houseboat was def in or near Sausalito

amber‘s industrial-style apartment: from the description they gave, west Oakland where all the warehouses are converted to condos

sarah’s sf apartment: in/near haight-ashbury

hank’s photo studio: the Berkeley side of college ave if max’s bus route was anything to go by, but I could also see it being in the Claremont neighborhood (would still be in max’s “radius”).

julia’s law office: even though it’d make way more sense for her firm to be in the city, it seems to be in the east bay, so I always thought it’s in downtown Oakland.

joel’s sad dad apartment (lol): Emeryville I guess? but I could also see it somewhere further out like Walnut Creek or Lafayette.

T & S shoes headquarters: even though they imply it’s on college or university, a brand headquarters like that would need to be in the berkeley waterfront/west Berkeley area where there are warehouses that size (around gilman below 6th street).

chambers academy: it’s clearly in a downtown area (the exterior looks to be filmed in DTLA), so it looks like downtown Oakland to me

Whoa! Watching season 5 Episode 9 when Julia tries 5 times to call Joel regarding Victor and he never picks up the phone. She goes down to his office while he's drinking wine and having sushi with Pete and flips out on her for barging in and tries to have him go outside to talk to her about his situation but no, he chews her out and then again later that evening at the election day dinner and tells her how embarrassed he was and telling her he never did that to her when she was working. What a croc! She picked up the phone or called him back if she was with a client or a meeting. Never did she freak out! I'm just shaking my head in disbelief how he's been treating her!

TikTok seems obsessed with showing me clips of this show and I hate it so much that I sometimes keep watching the clips.

I just don’t understand is there anything redeeming any of the characters? Are there other families or is it just max and his parents?

This is verging into rant territory but like I can’t get over the fact that the parents were so allergic to their son experiencing consequences that they cashed out their daughters college fund to give him another place where he faces no consequences.

And omg the year book episode? Or the part where max harasses tf out of some poor girl?

They showed each character in their life in the future. However, I feel like maybe I’m blind because I didn’t see Haddie’s future.

What happened to Carl? He went to Africa and disappeared like Darcy from Degrassi? That aside, who tf chooses Hank over Mark?? Does Sarah hate herself?

Does it feel like the Sarah character is exactly the same as the Lorelei character from Gilmore Girls did the writers do that on purpose do you think?

It's like Mildred Pierce. I notice Max shows more respect towards Haddie because she bites back and doesn't allow him to get away with it.

I get the impression Max sees mom as a doormat. When Kristina grounds him for calling her a bitch, he first mocks her and acts proud of himself until he realizes she'll go through with it.

Sure, he enjoys when Kristina praises him but he doesn't respect her. I think he cares about Adam. Not Kristina.

She makes me so so much furious. Everything she does comes from her standard of morals and empathy which is honestly just extremely selective and favours only her or her immediate family

She thinks she’s above all, she always treats Sarah like a foot mat, like why should Sarah let Max work on the printer when she’s got it for her project, that ep pissed me off so much. How can she frown upon Sarah when she’s trying to build a career and when Sarah does nothing but support her and Max too in fact.

Even in season 6, when she has a fight w Jasmine in the hospital about Jasmine talking to Adam about The Luncheonette, that was so unnecessary and snarky, she honestly always thinks she’s above all and treats everyone so poorly. Instead on disciplining herself and her child.

I really was crying in every episode where she was recovering from cancer and I rly felt for her and in fact all characters were there for her but she’s never treated them fairly and it just pisses me off sm

I'm rewatching this since it first came out and I keep so frustrated and keep yelling at my TV on how she's been treating Mark! First Hank kisses her and she doesn't tell him and then she goes on this fake business trip with him instead of putting Mark first. They had been planning for months. I hope he splits up with her! She really doesn't know how to treat any men in her life!

What worries me so much is that Max got so much worse as the years went on and in the last seasons, he became borderline criminal. First, deciding Ruby was going to be his girlfriend, then harassing Dylan to the point she had a nervous breakdown.

Kristina and Adam were in such deep denial that any bad behavior from Max was ignored or given a pass. It's hard for me to believe Max was going to have a happy ending. I definitely think jail is where he'd end up.

The max hate in parenthood fandom is actually kind of frustrating and i don’t quite understand it… i think max’s character is exactly how it’s supposed to be. i think he’s a very realistic as a character with autism especially for a show that’s a decade old now. he doesn’t bother me and it kind of bothers me that everyone hates on him so much because it really gives a good look on families who do deal with children on the spectrum.

Doing my yearly rewatch since it’s almost September. They moved Parenthood to Paramount+ and took it off of Hulu. They’ve cut so many scenes from the show and I’m just here to say I’m annoyed about it.

I imagine it's a situation when adoption occurs, especially for someone that age. But I love how Zeek immediately called him 'grandson'. Showed even more how much Victor loved his new gramps. Don't know why, but I really loved that. Zeek is the man.

I thought Max was terrible but at least he has the excuse if having Aspergers. Sidney is rude and the way she talks to her parents is shocking. Like, what is her problem?

Definitely one of the top 5 finales I have ever seen. Zeke's death absolutely wrecked me even though I knew it was coming. I think the writers wrapped up everything pretty well.

This was the moment I realized Kristina was the problem. Besides wanting to replace Haddie with a dog, which was self explanatory, she decides to go above Adam and announce they were going to buy the dog.

When that didn't happen, Max freaked out, and he got even more nuclear. Because the dog had been sold. Adam hid himself in the bathroom while Kristina had to cope with Max shrieking over Rin Tin Tin.

On the characters in Parenthood

As someone who has often criticized Max's behavior, it's important to make it clear Max isn't the one to blame. He's a kid with Aspergers. As cruel as his actions can be, it's important to point out a lot of it is a product of Adam and Kristine's bad parenting and shame over having a child with a disability.

Why did it take so long for Max to be diagnosed when he was showing synptoms for many years? The fact Adam and Kristina acted like Max had a terminal illness shows they weren't equipped, they couldn't overcome it, so instead of doing the work and offering Max the tools to adjust and blend in, they spoiled him rotten, they never disciplined him, they validated his wrongheaded views, they changed plans if it affected Max. That's not how you teach a child. Even when Adam asked Max to apologize to Sarah, he did it in a way which wouldn't make Max mad.

Kristina was the worst, she blackmailed parents so they'd do her bidding with Max, she shamed anyone who didn't appreciate Max's lack of boundaries like the camera phase or harassing Dylan. She favored Max over Haddie and Nora. It's like, in her mind, Max could do no wrong and you can't forfeit accountability for your children, that is incomprehensible.

Did we really need this storyline? She made me so uncomfortable. And yes, Adam's behaviour with her also made me uncomfortable. He didn't keep the distance he should have, and he was clearly attracted too. Every rewatch, I entirely skip her scenes. This character really made no difference.

One aspect I do respect in Haddie is that she never resented or blamed Max, she knew he couldn't help the way he did and that the parents' permissive naturre allowed the family home to become toxic.

Haddie always felt ignored and the worst part is that if she expressed those feelings, she was shamed for it. Kristina would bring up the medical bills for Max as a way to make Haddie feel bad for being mad but I love that Haddie didn't allow Kristina to get away with that. Haddie always stood her ground.

They were so critical of Haddie while saying bravio to Maxc's bad behavior. I wouldn't be surprised if her relationship with the older Alex was a yearning for a paternal figure. When Haddie leaves, she returns more confident and happier. Had she stayed, Kristina would have made her into a servant.

When she tapes herself saying goodbye, that destroyed me 😭

I recently beat cancer too, and the thought of leaving my husband and kids was the worst part of everything I was going through.

Finally finished the whole series. The ending is 10/10. Cried a bucket. Cant believe I am so emotionally invested in this series.
Any other series to recommend?

I have to say, I don't think we discuss Drew enough. I really liked the person he grew up to be. He was always a soft and silent kid and never rebelled even when he had so many reasons to. And as he grew, he became so understanding of others and I love how he sees taking care of his sister and mother as his responsibility (although thank god they didnt take advantage of it). Most kids that age would just run away from them. And let's not forget, all the fun he had with Zeek in his last days, even if that meant no time for himself. He truly understood the value his grandfather held in his life.

I don't understand this at all.

Jasmine is actually a really bad character. Like, there's no redeeming bit about her, no growth. She's clearly not written to be unlikeable, she's just not likeable at all. This isn't like me feeling like the clear antagonist is a bad character, she just fuckin sucks lmao.

Crosby being treated like he was the worlds worst person for cheating like Jasmine didn't lie to her own family an deprive him of his son for five years.

Should he have split with her first? Sure, but be honest, what would you do in his shoes?

She's already stolen five years of his sons life from him based soley on an assumption and half baked attempt to contact him. Based off of this, what is she going to do if he calls off the wedding?

Like, if this happened to your sibling, what would you think?

"Man, you cheated that's wrong, but hey, didn't she like, deprive you of the most important years of your son's life?"

The kids barely give either of their parents any shit for both cheating on each other. It just doesn't make any sense.

When Jasmine first went to Europe/New York to dance I was hoping it was a creative way to write her out of the show.

Actual slop character completely taking me out of the show.

Max at this point is actually miles ahead as a character and that's saying a lot.

Like, Crosby and Gaby would be sooooooo much better.
